A Homespun Christmas
Homemade Wreaths and Other Parental Nightmares
By Lisa Smartt
That's when it hit me. It all made perfect sense now. A childless executive of a woman's magazine was in cahoots with a group of therapists in central Texas. This was all a carefully conceived plan. I made a decision. I would no longer play into their little "Homespun Christmas" conspiracy. No siree. It was off to the mall for the boys and me. We bought mall gift certificates, glitzy wrapping paper and a book about the true meaning of the season.
That afternoon we snuggled up on the couch and read about the very first Christmas. No pinecone wreaths. No special paper. Just love. It turns out that's what my boys wanted for Christmas all along.
