Encouraging Genius
What's Best for the Gifted Child? By Kelly Burgess
Is My Child Gifted? Although all parents think their child is gifted (as they should!) there are some traits toddlers often exhibit that are associated with giftedness. Here are a few of them:
- Passes developmental stages earlier than average
- Masters new skills quickly
- Has an advanced vocabulary
- Tends to dominate activities
- Is a natural organizer
- Has superior spatial skills, for example, can build difficult shapes with blocks
- Understands patterns
- Demonstrates advanced reasoning skills
- Asks questions that seek to find meaning, rather than just explanations
