Teaching children the value of a dollar and the importance of saving is often overlooked. These fun crafts are a perfect way to start this learning process. Adult supervision is required for all crafts.

Money Sorter

You'll need:
  • Egg carton
  • Paint
  • Brushes
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue
  • Wooden craft sticks
  • Quarter, dime, nickel, penny
  • Tape

Here's what you do:
Cut your egg carton into a 2x4-inch section. You want the carton to be four holes wide and two holes long.

Next, paint your carton and craft sticks any color and design you wish. After the paint has completely dried, use a hot glue gun to attach a coin onto each craft stick (the quarter on one, the dime on one, etc.).

Tape or glue each craft stick in back of each of the four rows. The quarter stick will go behind one row, the dime behind another, etc.

Your child is now ready to sort her change. After each carton section is full you can transfer it to your piggy bank!

Coin Bank

You'll need:
  • Empty coffee can or oatmeal can with the lid
  • Paint
  • Brushes
  • Scissors
  • Markers
