Jewelry Fun!
Crafts That Encourage Pretend Play and Creativity
By Terri Bose
Scratch and Sniff Necklaces
What You Need:
- Unsweetened drink mix powder, such as Kool-Aid, in several flavors
- White glue
- Construction paper
- Yarn
- Hole punch
- Scissors
- Shoe box top
Here's What You Do:
Cut 2- to 3-inch fruit shapes out of construction paper to match the flavors of drink mix powder. Punch a hole in each one near the top.
Instruct children to spread white glue on a fruit shape, set it inside the box top and sprinkle on the powder. Let sit as glue soaks up powder. Shake off extra and let dry. String shapes on yarn, securing each one with a knot.
Children can scratch and sniff the different fruit flavors while proudly wearing a necklace they helped make.
