Gramma's Game
By Donna Smith
Allie laughed. "It sounded good to me, Gramma." She went inside and put the penny under her pillow. "A quarter, a nickel and a penny equal 31 cents."
"Allie, Keisha's here!" yelled Mom. "Did you finish the cars?"
"I just have to rinse them!" she answered. "I'm coming!"
Keisha was Allie's best friend. Today they planned to ride bikes and swim in Keisha's new swimming pool. Allie didn't have time to think about Gramma's game right now. Allie was a very busy girl.
On Monday, Mom handed Allie another letter when she got home from school. Allie quickly ripped it open -- she had to get her homework done so she could roller skate with Keisha before dinner. After dinner she ad her Girl Scout meeting. Taped to the corner of this letter were two pennies. Allie read the clue.
This is the last clue, there will be no more.
Did you figure out what the money's for?
You'll lick it, stick it, then send it away.
Will you have time to do it today?
Love, Gramma
