The Best, Lowest Paid Job in School

When the opportunities pop up, my husband and I also try to give a few hours to help with fund-raising or school programs. Although these tasks are removed from my daughter's day-to-day kindergarten life, they have helped us start up friendships with other school parents.
Now I wonder why I ever gave a second thought to whether I should volunteer at school. I really enjoy my little side job. I may "only" get paid in hugs, kisses and macaroni necklaces, but it's well worth it.
| Don't count on every volunteer opportunity being handed to you in the school newsletter or by your child's homeroom teacher. If you're not finding just the right fit, do your own detective work. Start asking around about volunteering and approach people you may not have contact with every day, such as:
