New Year update
January 5, 2007
Wow How I love my girls. They have been talking about pirates lately because we got pirates of the Caribbean 2 for Christmas and Emmy got a huge Mr. Potato head with 4 little potatoes inside with parts to make lots of pirate and princess potatoes. We were in the car coming back from a shopping trip and my sister and I were talking about pirates with Abbey she was asking about Davy Jones and black beard and a slew of others. I said my favorite pirate was the Dread pirate Roberts because he never took prisoners he would most likely kill you in the morning (I totally love The Princess Bride) Abbey said I don't want to be killed in the morning I have never seen Paris. I rented the Princess Bride after looking for hours for my copy. I have no idea what happened to it. I had a copy I taped from TV and then I bought one when I saw it in the store. Both girls have watched it several times already and they both agree it is the "BEST MOVIE EVER!"
I took Emmy with me when I got my hair cut to have her bangs trimmed and she looks so cute. She has always looked cute but it is like looking in the past at her sister. She has been singing lately. She keeps surprising me with how well she can remember stuff. I know it shouldn't her goal is to be just like her sister. She even came up to me today to show me her loose tooth. Of course it isn't really loose.
I have been doing some major after Christmas shopping. Abbey has a black long hoodie sweater. I have wanted one like it since I bought hers. I finally found one and this is what my husband says. I have only seen two types of people wear sweater like that our sister and homeless people. I laughed and said so my sweater looks like a homeless person would wear it and he said it looks like you dug it out of a dumpster and it desperately wants you to put it back. I thought that was very funny. I still like the sweater and have been wearing it anyway. I also found Abbey a lightweight Rothschild reversible jacket that is absolutely adorable. I wish they had it in Emmy's size.
We have had the most wonderfully mild weather lately. It has been in the 60's several times. It has not been a typical winter. I love being able to leave the house with no coat just a light jacket. I have missed snow days but I keep reminding myself that we will have more summer break. That is unless February is a really bad month and we get snow upon snow. I am hoping we just slip right on into spring. I never really liked winter much. I would be happy with one little snow enough to build a snowman and that's it.
Abbey joined a Chemistry club. One of Mike's former professors started a club at our church they have little lesson and do an experiment. They all wear little lab coats and have little journals. It is cute. The club is for grades 3 rd- 5 th but since Mike was a student of the professors he invited Abbey to join. It was said that since her dad is a Chemist she might enjoy the class. Tonight was her first meeting and she loved it. She said it was so much fun. She couldn't believe her dad was a student of his. She is telling him all about it now. Abbey had her allergy follow up. They said everything looks good and just keep up what I am doing. I forgot to get an excuse for school again and I called to ask them to fax it like they did the last time and they gave me this big argument about how they can't do that. I said you did it last month when I was there why not now. I swear they frustrate me. They are mailing it.
We had a really laid back New Years. We stayed around the house and rented movies. I always get the cleaning and organizing bug right at the New Year. For some reason this time of year I want to paint everything and always end up buying tons of storage containers.
Preschool is going great. We are doing a whole unit on snow and snowmen. Even though we haven't had snow. I wasn't for sure if they would even remember snow but they did. They all told me something that they liked to do in the snow. I guess that is all that's up with us.
