This and that and sorry its been so long
March 10, 2007
I am so sorry that it has taken me a month to write an update. We have had a crazy month. First it has been dreary and cold here and I have not felt like doing much of anything. Then I got sick with bronchitis. I haven't felt like doing anything. Then I had to dig the house out of the mess the girls have left it in while I was so sick.
I'll start with Emmy she has been so adorable and sweet. I could just kiss her face off. She has had a few moments where she was rotten but they were when she was missing naptime so I have tried to make sure she has been home when it is time to nap. She has had an allergic reaction to something a few times lately. I am really not sure what it is. I suspect it is cats. She spent the night with her grandmother (mike's mom) when she woke up her eyes were swollen and red and drippy. We though oh its pink eye again but by the time we got home later that day it had cleared up. I told the Dr and he agreed it sounded like an allergy. It happened again later in the week when we were at her great grandmothers house. Both grandmothers have cats so I have no idea if that is the cause or not. She has started coming to preschool with me. She decided that she didn't want to be in my room, which is kind of a blessing. She seems to like her teacher. She is doing pretty well for someone so young and starting at the end of the year. She also had her first teeth cleaning a few weeks ago. She did a really good job. I wish Abbey behaved as well as Emmy. Emmy lay really still with her mouth open. Abbey has been so much she is sick and tired of going to the dentist. I don't know if I have mentioned it but she has malformed enamel so they are constantly working on her teeth. Emmy has learned some new words. She got Floss at the dentist office but she said I got a flute and I said what and she said I mean fluse and I said you mean floss and she said yeah floss. She has become a flossing junky. The girl seems to live with floss in her mouth. She also learned what chilly means. We were going to the dr and she wanted to ride her new Barbie bike I said no cause its still too chilly and she said mom its not chili it's a bike. I laughed and laughed. Then I explained what chilly means. That and episode referring to a TV program is her new favorite words. When she wants to watch TV she said could I watch an episode. And she says this is my favorite episode. It's adorable. She cut her hair. I know it's a right of passage almost all two year olds do it. She snipped some at the top of her bangs so you cannot tell. So that is good. I know it could be a lot worse. One of my children from preschool has moved into the house almost right behind us. He is a little older than Emmy so I am hoping he will come over some this summer and play with her. It will be nice to have someone Emmy's age for her to play with.
Abbey is going to Puppet class. The Lexington children's theater is holding classes every Saturday here in town so Abbey has signed up. She likes it so far. Really nothing new has been going on with her. All of her activities have ended for a few months and she is just going to school and coming home and playing. They have missed 11 days of school so they have to go to school and extra 30 minutes everyday until the end of April. She doesn't seem to mind that so I guess I don't either. They lost 3 days of their spring break, which I really hate. My mom had surgery on her foot so we may go to visit her when we do get Spring break. Abbey also got her hair cut. She decided that she wanted it cut and she picked out a cut hairstyle that makes her seem so old. It is adorable. She has seen an orthodontist about her teeth and they decided to pull 4 teeth (all at once) the poor girl was about to have a beak down. So I told her I would but her any toy she wanted she went to two stores and she said I don't really see anything I need. Oh she is growing up on me. She did get her heart broken. We live in my husbands grandmas rental house. She needed someone dependable to live her and someone to check in on her from time to time and take out the trash so three years ago we moved her. They have been adamant about NO PETS! Not in t he house (even though the carpet is as old as the house) and not outside. Abbey saw a puppy that is a mixed breed of her dads 2 fave dogs and they out and out said no way. Abbey cried and cried. It made me a little mad. They haven't said why and I know it is their house but goodness. So Abbey has it in her head that we are moving. I had an interesting conversation with some parents while waiting to pick up Abbey from puppetry. 2 moms go to the school Abbey does and the rest doesn't. We were discussing the end of year test. Only k and 3-5 will be taking the end of year test the rest of the school is taking think link a test they take 3 times a year that shows where the kids are at and where they need work and you get the results almost right away so you know what your child needs work on. I think it sounds wonderful. Abbey is ok with it and the teacher seems to like it better too. The mom from our school was saying she knows nothing about it and that her teacher never communicates with her. She asked how I knew about the tests and I said I was at the PTA. She said I never attend those meetings they should send info home. I said I think they expect parents to come to the meetings.
