Miss Emmy

June 10, 2006

So the last post was almost all about Abbey. I will try to clue you in on Emmy. To be honest I didn't really want to have another baby. I was content with one. But about her third birthday Abbey started asking for a sister. I was reluctant. Then she started talking about her imaginary sister named Emmy. This went on for a few months and Mike and I decided that it might not be such a bad idea to have another baby. I have PCOS (Polycyctic Ovarian Syndrome) so we didn't anticipate getting pregnant right away, but on the second month trying we got pregnant. Abbey named her Emily Sarah Elizabeth. Emily Elizabeth after Clifford's owner Sarah after a character in a movie she liked and we call her Emmy from Dragon Tales. Emmy was born on 4-4-04. At almost 4:44. She wasn't what I expected. For one thing she was ugly. She was splotchy and wrinkled. Her big sister was nothing like this when she was born. Before you write horrible things to me in my TTM board I have to say I still loved her and she soon grew out of the splotchy phase and she is a very beautiful girl. I was an older sibling so I don't understand some of the things she does. I am not sure if it is even a younger sibling thing or if it is just her. She will hit her sister when her sister is not bothering her. She goes into her room and messes it up. She still her sisters play make up and smears it on her and everything she is near. She is also has to be just like her sister. She imitates how she walks talks and eats. She wants to be just like her big sister. Just this weekend she joined in a running joke that Abbey and my husband have with each other. One says guess what and the other says monkey squat. Emmy says is so cute and if you say it to her she says "ahh you gots me" She also loves to tell knock knock jokes. They go like this "Knock Knock" you say who's there and she says "who who who" I have no idea what that means but the look on her face when she says it always cracks me up. She loved going to Abbey's kindergarten class. We dropped Abbey off everyday and Emmy would walk into the room and sit on the carpet with the other kids. Her teacher offered to keep her there for me. Emmy loves books. She pretends to read all the time. I have started reading a series of books with Abbey and Emmy loves to sit on the bed during our bedtime routine and listen to the story and listen to Abbey reading to me. She also has a love of Barbie dolls. She takes all of their clothes off, and carries them around like they are her babies. Don't worry I have thrown away those small pieces that get lost anyway and you step on in the middle of the night. I have never seen a child love to dance as much as she does. Sometimes we will play a ring tone on our phones to watch her dance. She also loves to sing. Abbey has taught her lots of songs from school. My favorite is the wishy-washy washerwoman. I have them do it together at least once a day. I think her favorites are Happy Birthday and the ABC's. We are working on her colors. So far everything is either pink or purple. One thing I have had to get use to with Emmy is she hates shopping. She is ok for the first five minutes we are in a store and then she starts trying to climb out of the cart, wants to be held, and cries if we don't leave. I make a list and try to get in and out but I love to browse so I leave her with family whenever I can. She is also very demanding. If it isn't done her way she breaks down. One of the things I totally love about her is her hair. She was born bald like my babies are and didn't actually get hair until recently. I love that it is just barely long enough for these fluffy pigtails to come off the top of her head. She is also very snuggly. If you are lying down she wants to come lay in front of you. We nap like that all the time. Usually when I don't mean to nap.
