Our 4th of July

July 7, 2006

We decided to go to the Cincy zoo for the fourth since we missed are annual tradition of going on Memorial Day. We didn't actual go on the 4th we went on the 3rd. On the way we got a flat just as we were about to cross the bridge into Ohio. We had just driven through some construction and apparently picked up a nail. We pulled over to changed the tire and hit a pot hole that we couldn't see from the road. The car went air born landed hit another one and bounced to the third where we finally got it stooped. My hub cap flew off and I had to track it down. Lots of fun. The girls were crying cause they thought something really bad was happening. We changed the tire and had a GREAT day at the zoo. I always love the zoo. I wish we lived close enough to get a family pass. We visited our favorite animals. Emmy was old enough to really enjoy it. She fell asleep and woke up just in time to see the Elephant demonstration. She loved this. When you ask her about the elephant she says elephant goes (lifts arm up like a trunk) and then we clap our hands. Another thing she did at the zoo was every animal we saw she would say "I eat it?" I would say no and she would ask why. This was every animal except the kangaroos. She loved them so much. When we went inside to the goat petting zoo she went crazy. She had to pet every goat she would say "Oh cute I love you kangeeerooo." I reminded her at every goat that it was not a kangaroo and she would say "a goat ok bye kangeeerooo." She is so funny. Abbey says, "I think Emmy will be a comedian when she grows up." I am not sure If I mentioned it before but Emmy can say her whole name now. Sometimes if I call her Emmy she will say, "no I Sarah" When I say Sarah what she says, "Emmy Sarah McKenzie" I was remembering the funny things Abbey would say. She called her-self Abbey mcKemfee forever. I noticed this week that Emmy's language has exploded again. She has been speaking in sentences for a while but she seems so grown up now. Today whenever I left the room she would follow me and say mom where are you I can't find you. Then when I would shout to her she would say oh there you are. I found you mommy. She also tells very long stories about being scared of spiders. How they climb on her and eat off her belly. She makes this cute fake scared face and then laughs. Starting the story allover again. She has also been sleeping in her own bed. I am so proud of her. For a while we were letting her fall asleep with us, and then putting her in her bed but then I started sitting on her bed with her until she fell asleep. It would take about 5-10 minutes. This past week she has asked to go lay in her bed when she starts to get tired for naps. I have also managed to take her shopping without her having a major melt down about wanting to leave. My baby is growing up. The big girl is doing great. She started getting bored and has wanted to go back to school. Then Reading camp started. She is going with a friend of hers so we have been carpooling. I will take the girls and Kim picks them up. Or vice versa. Today Abbey went home with them after camp and played until almost dark. She had fun. We have been thinking about back to school and what she needs and what she wants. Pretty much she only wants to wear skirts or skorts to school. I may have problems trying to get her in shorts and Capri's. I have planned a shopping day for two weeks before school. My sister and I will take her and leave Em with Mike. It should be fun.
