School
August 30, 2006
Well this week has totally kicked my butt. I am unbelievably tired. Abbey has been so tired in the morning that she actually asked me to keep her home I told her no and I have been trying to get her into bed earlier. By the end of the week she seemed to be doing better. For the second week in a row (both weeks of school) she brought home all the work they did that week at school and her spelling tests all with 100%'s I am super proud of her I hope she can keep it up. She seems to be doing really well in school. I was talking to some of the parents of children Abbey shared a class with last year and their class is not doing near what Abbey's class is. They have only had homework one time and it was tracing numbers 0-10 and their review work has been the alphabet. Abbey's class has had homework twice a week with a spelling test every Friday and their homework is which is usually circle the misspelled word, addition and math word problems. They have been bringing home their reading books too so she actually has three nights of homework a week.
I also have been working on my classroom. I found out last Thursday that we will have two three year old classes because an absolutely unheard of thing happened all the threes who said they wanted to come months ago still want to come. This speaks highly of our program I think. All the teachers have degrees mine is the lowest and it is a BS in Early Childhood Development the other two teachers have teaching certificates. Emmy hates going with me to work on the room and I have no idea why. It is just the two of us in the room and I pack her snacks and drinks and she can play with all the toys. So I have found someone to watch her while I am working.
Abbey and her friend got Hamsters and for some reasons within hours of getting the things home they died. One minute they were running and playing and the next they fell over twitching. I have no idea what happened. Abbey's hamster bit her so I have been watching her finger closely. So far it isn't infected looking. She had cheerleading pictures the other night outside in the rain. It was crazy. I just can't believe they didn't reschedule. The girls were all making faces because they were soaking wet. They have their first game tomorrow and Abbey is extremely excited.
Emmy has been cranky lately and wants to sleep a lot. I keep asking her if she feels bad and she says no she is just tired. Maybe she is just having a growing spell. She is really big on saying ____ loves Emmy (fill in the blank with anyone she is talking to.)
My sister likes her job. She says answering the phone Deputy______ is crazy and she has already had to transport someone she went to school with back to his holding cell. She said that was weird. All in all she said her job is fun and everything she thought it would be.
