Christmas
December 21, 2006
Ok I feel horrible about not writing until Christmas and I really have no excuse except laziness. I have started so many entries and just have not finished them. Abbey is finished with basketball season. Her cheer coach got sick and had surgery toward the middle of the season so I took over as coach. I spoke with the parks department about getting my own team next year and they said that would be great. A few weeks ago we picked Abbey's friend up and took her to the movies and then shopping and on to the Kentucky Horse Park to see Southern Lights. I think both girls had lots of fun. I know that Emmy did. We didn't get home until late so Makaylyn's mom took her inside still asleep.
They girls were both in the church Christmas program. Abbey was an Angel and Emmy was a sheep. She fell asleep right before they went on so a Shepard carried her on stage. That was so adorable. No one could figure out who the sleepy sheep was.
Abbey had a Christmas program for school. They had it in the high school's auditorium. It was packed with parents and family. The children looked really cute. Abbey's grade all wore Santa hats and sang Mr. Santa (to the tune of Mr. Sandman.) She kept forgetting the song when she would practice but she remembered it that night. The preschool has let o out for Christmas break. I tell you my parents spoiled me. Everyone got me some present. It ranged from ornaments to a beautiful monogrammed purse and 25 gift certificate to the bookstore across from the school. We had a program for my preschool kids. They were really good I thought that they would cry and run to their parents. Only one cried and he wasn't in my class. One did run to his mom and he was in my class but he went back up there. Several kids had to go potty during the program so next year we need to remember to take everyone potty before we start lining up. I have stuff going on every evening for the rest of the week.
The girls have completely cracked me up lately. Abbey has listened to the Chipmunks Christmas tape about a thousand times. When she heard Bing Crosby singing she said "How dare those people try to get famous on songs the chipmunks did first." I tried not to laugh it was so sweet and funny. Emmy says, "Let me tell you the whole story." She has been big on telling stories some she makes up and some are real like goldilocks. She also likes to give presents or "uhprizes" and every time she sees a baby either real or in a picture she says a baby...I keep it? We have a new game. I say what's that and she names the body part and I say I eat it and she says no and then we end with mouth and I say I kiss it and she says yes. She sure has her moments. Some days she is just the sweetest child and then you have days like today when she is so moody you would think she is 14.
Emmy is really into Christmas this year. She loves looking at the lights we have driven around our neighborhood several times and she loves buy presents. I cannot wait until she opens her stuff. Everything makes her excited. I am happy about our arrangement this year. We alternate holidays and this year was Thanksgiving with my family and Chrsitmas with his. So we are having my dad and sister up on Saturday to celebrate and Sunday I am working at the church and then celebrating with his family who live about 2 miles from us. I am so realived that we will not be traveling. I wish we could do this every year.
