6/23/06 - This week in Kentucky
June 23, 2006
The past two weeks we have been working hard on getting the new hardwood put in and repainting the living/family room and dining room. The boys have been good pretty much but all the toys are piled in a corner and/or in boxes. The house is a mess. And I think we are neglecting the boys a bit.
But, I did take them to see Cars the other day and to a swimming all-day birthday party for their cousin. We eat with them every night. It's just we don't have time to play with them at night. I think they are learning to play together much better too. Maybe not friendlier but G will play with Owen more now than he used to. They are starting that brotherly fighting. I knew it would come. They bicker and tattle on each other constantly. They haven't started the hitting or punching but Owen has a short temper and will wail and whine about G at the drop of a hat. That drives me crazy.
Wednesday is usually Movie day and Library day. This Wednesday it didn't happen. They weren't behaving and I hated to do it, but I told them they didn't earn the day and we missed the "free movie" day at the theater. I figured if I was going to threaten them with not going then I had to follow through. We did go to lunch with Dad and I gave in and took them to see Cars at a different theater (near Daddy's work) and had to pay for it. And Owen fell asleep 1 minute into the movie and woke up to see the last 10-15 minutes. I think he's still convinced it was a good movie though. I bought them the electric racetrack a couple of weeks ago. I always wanted one since my brothers always had them and wouldn't let me play. Owen doesn't understand how to put the cars back on the track yet. But, they do enjoy racing the cars.
Potty training - I've bought a book on potty training in one day. I've purchased the Scotty Potty doll and waiting for it to arrive. We'll start the process sometime in July. We are going away for the July 4th weekend and I didn't want to train him and then go on a 7 hour drive to Michigan. There's no way I want to pull over every hour or every time he says he has to go.
It has been hot and occasionally stormy this summer. It was pretty nice for a while, but these 90 degree days with high humidity is tough. The boys don't seem to mind. They love to play outside and have a great time doing most things together.
When I found out Owen was going to be a boy, I was slightly disappointed because I wanted a girl so bad. But, I am glad he was a boy. I think it's great the boys play together and have playmates for each other. Plus, I had all the clothes and boy toys.
No luck TTC this month, we'll keep trying.![]() | ![]() |
