A little update on how summer break is going so far. Can we say stressed?!It's not that bad, or is it? Austin has been keeping Noah company but as a 6 year old he wants to be outside playing with his friends. We have already been to IPP this summer break, and plan on other fun stuff around the area. We are trying to do want we can the first part of summer cause then we have clothes and such to save for.

Sunday June 1, 2003

The summer break kicked off a little earlier for Austin. We plan on going to Six Flags, as I wrote about in my last entry, but the weekend took a turn from the unexpected. Last night a friend invited Austin and me to go to a new little amusement park in Branson. It is called Celebration City. It was really neat. All together there was 3 boys, including Austin, and they were just sure they wanted to ride a roller coaster first. Well until they seen one! Haa! It was not a real big one, more on the small side compared to what Six Flags has. As soon as Austin seen the roller coaster going around the track he grabbed me and squeezed tightly! He was terrified! I just giggled and told him he was about 2 inches to short to ride it any way. We did get on a platform type ride that went in a complete circle at a fairly high speed then reversed and went back around the other way. I laughed so hard at the boys. They closed their eyes and screamed. When we got off Austin looked at me with his cheeks puffed out like he was going to puke. Then said, “Mom I don’t want to go on that AGAIN!” I laughed again and told him Okay. We went on some other rides, my friend and I got on the big roller coaster there while the grandma watched the boys. We had a blast. Austin said he really liked it. He did get on some more soothing rides that fit him better. Of course bumper cars was one of them.

Today was Austin’s last day of kindergarten! He got his report card and it was excellent! He received a certificate for recognition and one for excelling in P.E. The class gathered in a circle to give Austin a big group hug since he will be attending a different school for 1st grade. He was a little sad about not coming back to THAT school anymore. In a way it is a relief to not have to get up and drive him to school for a while. Call me a bum but I am ready for some relaxing mornings without all the running.

We kicked off the summer break rather well. We took the boys and went to the Incredible Pizza Place on Saturday night. Grandma and Papa met us there and we all had a ball. Of course the evening would not have been a typical dad and son without Don teasing Austin just a tad at the beginning. rolling my eyes He thought he would tell him we were not going to go play in the play area. I kept looking at Austin with a look that he knows better. He just looked at daddy and said “yes we are mom said so!” We did have a blast. Papa and Austin rode the race cars, Austin got on the bumper cars, played games, rode some more rides, and finally went home about 10.
This weekend Austin is going to Six Flags with a friend. We were going to go but I don't think Noah would make it all day there. Maybe another year. But we are going next weekend to Whitewater and a few other places. I haven't been to White Water since I was about 12, so it will be a fun day for us all. We may take a trip to the zoo too, since Austin has mentioned he wants to go there.

This summer sounds like a good one for us so far. I can't wait till next weekend. But this weekend will be a break for mom and dad. Sunday both boys are going with Grandma for 2 days. They love going there and Don and I need a much deserved break.

Tonight we go to look at new furniture. We can't wait to see what we find! Then we will be going to visit a friend, or should I say surprise him with a visit.

I will try to update again after our trip to White Water.

Christa & Austin.
