December 29, 2002
Well this year has almost come to an end. Man I feel like this year has flown by. More about that after my little over view of our Christmas.
CHRISTMAS DAY
****************
We were awakened by the voice of Austin at 7:30 this morning. We looked up to him saying,"MOM, DAD, SANTA CAME!" Oh the sweetness of a child on Christmas morning. He was ready to go open the gifts. But it was put on hold due to 2 things, 1 being that Noah was not awake yet, and 2 that Don had to go shovel sidewalks on the complex. So as bummed as Austin was that he had to wait for dad to get back, he was pretty cool about it. As soon as Don walked in the door Noah woke up. So we get the question from Austin,"can we open the gifts now?!" So down on the floor we went and started to open presents. I am very proud of myself, cause I didn't go overboard this year. Just a few things from us to the boys. Austin got a thing of K-Nex, bionicles, the trouble game and a combo gift for both boys was a double sided easel. Chalk board on one side, dry erase board on the other. Austin loved the bionicles the best. It was a really great morning! Don and I went to the kitchen to fix breakfast while the boys sat and played together. I say it was perfect, and even a white Christmas. Don loved his DVD he got (star wars episode 2) and my sapphire ring was perfect. I have been wanting one for so long. Now the snow put a kink in the days plans. We were supposed to stay Christmas Eve night with my mom then go to Don's moms the next afternoon. Well with all the snow, my parents brought Christmas to us. I think it was a very nice thing they did. They didn't have to load up all that food and gifts just to come to us. It could have waited, but they were bound and determined to spend Christmas with ALL their grandkids. So they pull in and my sister and her family right behind them. All that yummie food started coming out of the SUV, along with, what looked like all the toys on Santa's sleigh! I don't know how many times I tell the grandparents to not go overboard, but do they listen? NO! But to see the face on our kids as they tear into the gifts and the smiles they give when they see the toy, or what have you, is priceless. I tried to take a picture of the tree, gifts and kids all at once but that didn't work. Too many gifts and too excited children trying to tear into them. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect day. I really don't know what Austin's favorite gift was. The kid got so much that I think he is still overwhelmed. But he did get 2 different scooters, and is wanting dad to go riding with him. Now that will be a kodak moment: austin and dad riding scooters down the sidewalk together! Then later that evening we were going to brave the roads and head to Don's moms. This may be the last time to see one of the brother in laws before he gets shipped overseas for a few years. So we had to go see them. I had to see my niece one more time. She was a gem! Austin opened gifts there and he got a portable basketball goal. He thought that was just cool! Still have to set the thing up. The one thing I think Austin plays with the most is his new play station game from my mom, Spyro. He would play it all day if we would let him. Silly boy! He said he had a great Christmas and was wired the rest of the night. Then a day or two later he gets sick.
A SICK KID
************
Oh yes just not long after Christmas both boys get sick. Austin started running a fever Thursday night and we finally got it to break. We thought he was ok, till the next morning when we heard him upstairs crying. We go up to check on him and he was running over a 103 fever and couldn't hold himself up. Then we looked at his eyes and they were red as can be. I thought it may be pink eye, but I was wrong. The ped told us to take both kids to the Urgent Care and the doctor there said Austin has a sinus infection, and gave us perscriptions. Austin is usually a pretty good trooper when he is sick, but when we got home he acted like he could not walk. Trying to carry a 24 pound 14 month old, a diaper bag, purse, and then a 61 pound 6 year old, that is not an easy task! But we made it in the house. Austin was ok about taking his "good tasting" medicine but when it come to the other he would and still has a fit cause it is so awful tasting. Poor kid! His eyes are still red today. I really hope he gets better soon, I hate seen him so sick. And he said he doesn't want pictures with red eyes. So if those eyes are not better by Wednesday there will be no pictures. I so want to have them taken. We planned on some pictures of both boys together, a couple of Austin by himself then a family photo. Let's hope that darn sinus infection goes away for the sake of Austins poor eyes. I would think it would itch or something, but he says he is fine.
THE COMING TO AN END
*************************
The year 2002 is almost to an end. I can't believe how quickly it has went by! We have had so much happen to us this year. Each thing I am thankful for. I may even have a New Years Resolution. Now if only I could keep it. Do you have any New Years Resolutions?
