Happy New Year Alexis!

It is now January 2, 2002 a New Year has begun and I wonder what it will hold for our family. By the end of this calendar year you will be in first grade and seven years old. Seems like such a long way off, but I know it is just around the corner.

2001 was an interesting year. Here are just a few highlights.

FEBRUARY: You competed in your first dance competition and did a great job. I remember being so excited and nervous for you! You placed first with a gold trophy for both dances!

MARCH: You entered a talent show that our church had. We only had to travel a few miles for you to sing “Let the Sun Shine In” and get a first place rating. You received a ribbon and a trophy.

MAY: Kindergarten Roundup and dance recital was a big part of our month. On the 11th you won a scholarship for a team class for the next year. Boy was I ever proud that night!

JULY: July we took lots of little weekend trips. You also got your shots and physical for school.

AUGUST: The first weekend we participated in Relay For Life with our own team in memory of Gram. And on the 24th you started school! What an emotional day!

OCTOBER: Grandpa and Oma’s wedding was on the 6th. You were a beautiful flowergirl! On the 20th you turned 6!

NOVEMBER: We had your first parent/teacher conference where your teacher had very good things to say about you.

Of course more happened through out the year, but these are some of the highlights. You have grown and learned so much. You have matured more than I thought would ever be possible.

What did we do on New Years Eve? Well during the day the kids were all here so we had a count down to noon New Years Party. You all danced, had a very special lunch, and wore hats and had loud blowers. Everyone had lots of fun bringing in the New Year.

You and daddy then went out and you bought Princess Diaries with some of your Christmas money. You asked Kori if she would come up and watch it with you after we went to dinner with Papa. So after dinner you called her up and she came over. We had popcorn and cheetos and some other yummy snacks while we watched your new movie. By midnight the movie was over and we were watching Shrek again and Daddy and Caleb were asleep in the recliner. At midnight you were barely awake and you, Kori and I all said “Happy New Year!” and that was about it. You were asleep in seconds afterwards.

Here is to a great year Alexis! May it be filled with joy and happiness and blessings.

Love,
Mom
