Introduction

What a great Christmas weekend we had! First, I have to mention that on Thursday I was in the doctor's office two times with what was termed as "The worst case of strep throat I have seen in a long time" by the nurse practitioner. The first time they gave me a shot of penecilin and a prescription for antibiotics to boot. I went to your winter party and by the time we got home my throat was so swollen I was gagging on my own saliva. I went back to the Dr. and this time they gave me a shot of prednisone to bring the swelling down. When they looked in my mouth again they said it had swelled almost 3x the size it was earlier. The pain was horrible and finally with lots of advil and popcicles I was half way comfortable.

Friday I was feeling just a bit better but slept lots in the afternoon. Friday night we went to Grandpa's house and visited with Aunt Sandy, Uncle Paul, Aunt Patti, Uncle Mike, Ash and Rod. On Saturday I went out and did shopping for daddy before we went back to Grandpa's for dinner.

Sunday we went to church where you went to Grandpa's Sunday School class because I had no voice left to teach with. After church we went back to Grandpa's again and after lunch it was finally time to open the huge mound of gifts that sat in the corner. The kids all had a great time, and got lots of great gifts. You got a karioke microphone, a couple of shirts, some games and the list goes on and on. You played until it was time for Ashly to go home. We packed up and took all of our things home too. Then when it got dark we all piled in the van and went to look at Christmas lights. That was pretty much a bust, we drove for a while and then found out one of the places we went to look at was already closed. So after a quick dinner out we were home for the night.

Monday, Christmas eve, we didn't do too much at all. In the evening NaNa came over and brought gifts. She spoils you so very much! The problem is that things aren't fair in the amounts you get and your brother gets. I am not sure how to say something with out sounding like I do not appreciate what she does. But when you open gift and gift and your brother gets two pair of pj's it just isn't fair and he is old enough to see it now. Not sure what I will do about that.

After she left we went out and looked at a few more lights in our town this time and you and Caleb were asleep when we got home. But you woke up because we still had things to do! Daddy put the carrots outside for the reindeer along with the reindeer food that we had. Then we read the nativity story from the Bible and daddy read Twas the Night Before Christmas. We got Santa's cookies and milk out and then finally at 11:00 p.m. it was time for you to head to bed.

Tuesday, Christmas day, you and your brother slept until 8! We got up and after everyone had gone potty it was time to see what Santa had brought. You opened your Poochi first and were very excited about that. You found some Junie B. Jones books, hair things, a Boo shirt, a hair twister, and at the end you opened the pink outift you had wanted so badly. It has a long hot pink skirt that is a nylon material, an orange and pink shirt and a vest that is reversable from pink nylon to orange fleece. It is very bright, but you love it. It was great to see your face. You thought for sure you wouldn't get it. When we had gone back to the store you first saw it at it was gone (because we had already bought it) and because I kept telling you how much I didn't like it. Hee Hee, it was fun to see you so suprised!

Tonight we will go to PaPa's house to exchange gifts with Aunt Ninny, and PaPa. I am sure we will have lots of fun. And then finally all of our Christmas fun will be done.

It was a great holiday and not only did we have lots of fun celebrating with famiy we also took time to reflect on why we have Christmas, and the best gift we were given. A baby boy who was sent to save the world. How thankful we are!
