Diane's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

January 11, 2000

Unfortunately for me, I don't really have a lot of news to share with everyone. This has been a relatively uneventful week with not much going on. The one major even that happened was I actually got Joe to clean the back yard after weeks of asking. Now all he has to do is take the garbage bag out when it's full instead of pushing everything down like a human compactor and we'll be all set. Next thing you know he'll be walking erect!

This weekend I had this horrible dream about the new baby. The details of it I won't share because it wasn't a nice dream, but I will tell you that it had me a nervous wreck. You know how we mothers are about dreams of our children -- born and unborn. I had made myself so upset over this dream that I was certain something was wrong. I just couldn't wait until the 19th for my next appointment to make sure the baby's heart was beating okay, so I called my doctor and told her I didn't feel well (a small white lie), and made her see me on Sunday. Well, of course, because it was Sunday she had no desire to go to the office (which I understand), so she sent me to the hospital to have one of the nurses there check for the heartbeat. I got there, and the nurse tried to find the baby's rate with the Doppler and found nothing. By 15 weeks you should hear it, so I was a little disturbed, but not too bad. She went for the larger Doppler, and when she couldn't find it then either I just fell apart.

The tears began to flow, for now I was certain that dream was telling me something bad. I had to wait for my nurse practitioner to come which took all of 15 minutes, but felt like forever, so she could do the ultrasound. Needless to say, she found it, we saw the baby moving all over the place happily and I felt silly for putting myself and them through this.

I must say, however, I really did feel a lot better and was able to enjoy the rest of the weekend (what was left of it).

Those were the highlights of my week. How dull. Maybe next week I'll have something more interesting for you.

Who knows. Quiet is good, though.

Take care,

Diane
