Diane's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

February 27, 2000

Yippee! I've made it through another week of Joe's absence due to work. He was in Las Vegas yet again. It wasn't too bad, though. At least the toilet bowl seat remained down for an entire week and there were no signs of boxers on the bathroom floor. LOL. The kids and I had lots of time together and I have to tell you I am completely wiped out. It's hard being the sole provider to three children for a week -- I can't imagine doing it for any period of time longer than that.

Austin's teacher did not have anything good to say to me the Friday before their winter vacation. She was chock full of negative comments about his behavior in class and his listening skills. She even went so far as to say that if his behavior does not improve after vacation that she is going to put a "magic square" made with tape around his desk so he knows his boundaries. Hmmm, maybe I should try that at home! I wonder if he'd get adequate exercise in a one foot by one foot magic square, hahahaha. We had a nice long talk about respect for other people and about his behavior. He assures me that a parent-teacher conference will not be needed as he is going to try to behave better at school. The one good thing is that he has improved a great deal in reading and math so I have to give him kudos there. He does try really hard, but gets easily distracted by other things going on around him. Everything catches his eye.

I broke down this week and hired a babysitter to come in and help me out a little bit during the week. It's starting to get harder to get everyone around especially Austin who needs his own amount of attention. So, for a couple of days a week she'll come here and help me with the babies so I can run Austin around to his things. She seems really nice, the grandmotherly type who has four kids of her own. They, however, are all grown. I'm not sure how much we'll actually be able to afford to have her, but any amount will be a great help. I hope it all works out.

Well, that's about all for this week. I hope all is well with everyone.

Take Care,

Diane
