I think about updating all the time, but it never seems to happen. This morning I overheard Michael saying something to Katie, and I just had to make a quick post to say what a great kid he is (not taking anything away from Ashlee or Katie, who are awesome too!). And it was something so simple.
Ashlee and Michael were home yesterday because Ash had a headache and Michael had an upset stomach. I had already made his lunch, so it was in the refrigerator. This morning, he said to Katie,” Why don’t you buy today so mom doesn’t have to make any lunches this morning for us and can relax.” He is so sweet.
On Christmas morning, he gave me a letter in private and told me it was his Christmas present to me – just between the two of us. It was the highlight of my Christmas. He asked me not to let anyone else read it, but he won’t read this diary for a very long time, so I’m going to put it in here so it’s never lost.
One of the most special gifts ever given to me was: My own room. Thank you, Mom. Even when dad moved out and we had less money than before. You didn’t think about yourself. You thought about the family. I know you didn’t have to get the wall built for me, but you did. You would of saved money, but you thought about me. You got me a room. I will never forget that. I love you and I always will love you. Thank you.
Merry Christmas, Mom. I love you.
Michael Smith
The next entry will be dedicated to the girls. Ashlee accuses me often of liking Michael the best. (This is NOT true, Ashlee!) :-)
Until next time…
