Quick update…

I had a great trip to Chicago! It was so nice spending time with everyone and getting to work in the office. I really love the office atmosphere. Too bad it’s such a long drive. ;-) I got to see snow – four times! It was not real heavy the first three times, but I got to see a real snowstorm about 20 minutes before boarding the plane. Being the dork that I am, I immediately poked the guy sitting closest to me and asked if they fly in snow like that (you couldn’t see anything out the window but white). He assured me it would pass and we would be fine. We were.

Ashlee had her second basketball game last Saturday. They are undefeated so far. Go Sparks! Michael is signed up for baseball and has try-outs in a couple weeks. I had originally told him that he had to play for the YMCA one season before signing up for the Pony league. That idea was laughed at, so he’s in the Pony league, which is very competitive. Michael only played one season with the YMCA and he was 4. He seems very confident that he’s going to be awesome. Knowing him, he will be.

Ashlee loves her new acting class. It’s not like the old one where they did performances all the time. We have to wait until spring to see her perform. It had better be good! ;-)

The kids were out of school Monday for Martin Luther King Day. We went to Cici’s for lunch, then went to the bowling alley. They had an hour wait, which didn’t sit too well with the kids, so we drove to Jillian’s to bowl there. They had a 1 ½ hour wait. So, we ended up buying game cards and just playing games there. It was Katie’s lucky day – she had tickets spewing out of every machine she touched! They ended up with over 600.

We’ve spent the last two Sundays at Grandma and Grandpa Tootsie’s. This Sunday, we went early and helped Grandma cook lunch. Fried chicken! It was so good. Grandpa is doing a lot better and even walking now. Grandma was in a really good mood the whole day. It was a nice day.

Sunday night we watched the Golden Globe Awards. Katie said the funniest thing. Renee Zellwegger had won an award for something. When she was making her speech, Richard told Katie that Renee was from Katy and had gone to Katy High School. Katie looked at him and said, completely serious, “Now, what makes you think I want to know that?” LOL

We started up the Jason’s Deli tradition the last two Tuesdays. How dare they have Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve on Tuesdays! ;-) It through off our whole schedule.

Fish Report: The remaining two survivors – the guppies -- are now living with the Bells. Sandra picked them up and put them in with her goldfish. So far, they are still alive and haven’t been eaten. The tank has been cleaned out and will probably join the mound of stuff in the garage for the garage sale we’re going to have someday. Live and learn, isn’t that what they say?

Oh, good news! Yesterday Richard got a promotion. He now has an office in the corporate offices in Conroe. Not such a great drive, but we’re going to see how it goes before deciding anything regarding where to move.

I know I’ve missed a ton of stuff, but that’s what I get for waiting so long to update. Tomorrow all three of the kids have dentist appointments, so I have to get them all out of school early. Katie has promised to do the fluoride treatment and x-rays this time. Sigh. I’m not holding my breath.

Friday is the 100th day of school. Katie has to bring 100 items in a brown bag and we have to write three hints on the outside so the class can guess what's inside. That's what Ashlee and Michael had to do too. Well, they've added another thing this year: The kids have to dress up like a 100-year-old woman/man. Hello? How do you dress a 5-year-old up like an old women? She wants a gray wig. I doubt I'll drive around looking for a gray wig. I can just see the teachers sitting around thinking of ways to drive the parents crazy: "Let's have them dress up like old people!" Brillant idea. At least it'll be a Kodak moment.

Until next time.
