Katie did the fluoride treatment (though she was “tricked” by the hygienist) and the X-rays. Go Katie! She didn’t have one cavity and the dentist said she brushes very well. Michael, on the other hand, had three tiny cavities and Ashlee’s teeth, well… She sees the orthodontist on February 24. I’m going to make him talk to her about keeping her teeth clean. This is a new orthodontist. We’re going to have to start from square one with molds, etc. Don’t you love insurance companies?
The Spark’s are still undefeated. I’m not sure how they won last Saturday’s game, but they did. They were off that game, but somehow pulled it out in the end.
We went to a Superbowl party at Donna and Randy’s house. Randy made squares and everyone had to buy a minimum of 10. Richard and I both bought 10, but guess who won both the third and fourth quarter? Yes, me. I won $100. Not bad. The night before we went with them to Benihana’s for dinner. We celebrated Big Randy’s birthday and Richard’s promotion. The kids thought the chefs were so cool. And Katie was happy because of how many shrimp she got to eat.
I found something else out about Katie – she has a great nose. On Friday I had gone to lunch at Pappasitos with Donna. When Katie got home that afternoon Shaina invited her over. I walked her over and hugged her goodbye. She got this strange look on her face and said, “You smell like food. Where did you eat for lunch?” LOL I can’t hide anything from her.
I don’t know how good of a job I did dressing her up like a 100-year-old woman. She wore a flowered dress, knee-highs pushed down around her ankles, hair in a bun, big purple glasses, blue eyeshadow and we cut a piece of bamboo for a walking stick. Oh, and a bandage on her arm because, according to her, old people have messed up arms (I know she’s thinking of Grandpa Tootsie’s arms). It was a Kodak moment, but I forgot to take a picture of her.
I’ve got almost everything we need for our ski trip. I can’t seem to find Michael a ski mask, and I only found after-ski boots for me and Katie. But besides that, we’re pretty much ready to go. Kim, Sandra and I went out for lunch last Saturday so we could make a list of what we all needed to bring -- and no, we couldn't have made a list at home. ;-) I talked to Katie and Michael’s teachers already and they are so excited that the kids get to see snow. They told me not to worry about a thing. Katie is missing her Valentine’s Day party, but she seems OK with it. Michael wants to try snowboarding. Sigh. In one brochure it says you have to be 12 to do it, but in another one it says 7 and up. I’m hoping the latter is wrong. It just looks so hard to me. Having skis on both feet looks hard enough – I can’t imagine both feet attached to ONE board.
Until next time.
