Donna's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

March 12, 2004

We survived. Richard had a good time. All is good.

Ashlee started tennis. She loves it. We had a 2 ½ hour meeting last Sunday where she met her team, practiced a little and learned the fundamentals. Her first practice was Monday. She’s doing pretty well for a beginner. There are five people on her team. I’m still not sure how the games will work. Now Katie wants to play tennis and asked us to sign her up next time.

Michael’s baseball team is looking pretty good. They have two more weeks before opening day. Their first game and the baseball carnival are on the same day as their school’s carnival. I’m hoping his game is later in the day so we don’t have to miss it. Hopefully we can do all three. Ashlee’s tennis games are all on Sunday at 4:00, so that makes life a little easier.

Michael was given the Soaring Eagle Award during announcements last week. He has the most AR points in 4th grade. Go Michael! And his team did really well in the Destination Imagination tournament. They didn’t place, but it was their first year. They learned a lot and can’t wait to do it again next year. So, goodbye Nacho Man, Flan Boy, Evil Hamburger Teenager, French Fry Dude, and Jalapeno Dog. You’ll be missed. :-)

What has Katie been up to? Not too much. Shaina has been coming over after school everyday. She plays so hard after school that she can barely keep her eyes open after dinner. They’ve been playing on the trampoline a lot, and with … William Hung. (No, I’m not talking about the rejected singer from American Idol.) :-) We went to a surprise birthday party for Shaina last Sunday. Katie acted like she was a little jealous that others were playing with Shaina. It was mostly Chi’s family there. Chi cooked her eggrolls, kebobs and sticky rice. I miss those days of her bringing food over all the time.

Now, about William Hung...

About a week and a half ago, I opened the front door because I had heard something. (This was during American Idol.) Well, this brown puppy shot into the house. And I mean shot in. He was going about 90 miles an hour. He proceeded to run in circles, then shoot upstairs. Crazy dog! Well, he WON’T leave. For the first few days he slept on our front porch and acted like a watchdog. When he started barking at people and chasing them when they walked by our yard, I put him in the backyard. I even broke down and bought dog food. We have “found” signs out, and did get a phone call two days ago, but the woman won’t return my call now. The kids, needless to say, are thrilled and love him. The first day he shot in they named him William Hung. He now answers to William. We are not keeping him, but with every day that goes by it’s going to be harder. Hopefully we’ll hear back from this woman this weekend and he’s her dog. He walks Ashlee to the bus stop every morning. He really acts like he’s known us forever. The dog loves us. Why us???

As for the Willie that really does live here, he’s adding new words everyday. I gave him a treat the other day and he said, “thank you.” He’s now saying “Bubbles,” and sometimes he’ll say “poo poo” after he does his business. And I swear, a couple days ago, he said “William.” Geez. His new favorite word is “peek-a-boo,” and he’s now saying it all the time. You don’t have to cover his eyes.

The rodeo is going on now. I’ve been to two – Wynona and Martina McBride. Both were good, but Martina was excellent. On Tuesday, the kids and I are going to Kelly Clarkson and Jessica Simpson. Katie is so excited about seeing Jessica. Ashlee is excited, but about the food she’s going to eat. :-)

Richard announced last night that he wants us out of this house within two months. And, he basically told me to figure out what I want to do regarding building or buying a resell. The pressure! He can’t quit job #1 until we buy a house, and that’s all that’s on his mind lately. Job #2 is going great.

The kids are out of school next week for Spring Break. We go to either Kemah of Galveston every year. The kids haven’t decided which one yet, but I have heard NASA mentioned a couple times.

Until next time.
