March 26, 2004
Spring Break was fun. We went to the rodeo and saw Jessica Simpson and Kelly Clarkson one day. The place was packed! Katie loved Jessica, but got a little bored during Kelly’s performance. We hung out afterwards and had hot chocolate and a funnel cake before heading home.
We ended up going to Kemah, but I wouldn’t go to NASA. Call me paranoid, but with the recent threats and bombings, why risk it? We had a good time at Kemah. We had lunch at Babin’s, rode the Ferris wheel, fed the fish/ducks, played in the fountains (for hours!) and then hit the candy store (our tradition, as the kids say). Katie and Michael were fascinated by the man who juggles fire. They even asked for his autograph. He surprised them with an 8x10 glossy of himself balancing the chair on fire. They thought that was cool.
I don’t know if I mentioned that William Hung (the dog) knocked over the parakeet’s cage that was sitting on the front porch, and Prozac (a.k.a. Dumb) flew away. Very sad. I put up signs but no one has found him yet. The funny thing is a couple days ago, Sandra called and said she HAD to come over and give me something. She showed up with a box, and what she thought was Prozac. At her daughter’s volleyball practice they saw a parakeet and caught it. It wasn’t Prozac, but it now lives with us. LOL Richard wasn’t thrilled. He had almost talked me into getting rid of Miss Otis (a.k.a. Dumber). She was very depressed after he flew away. She hasn’t really shown much interest yet in her new friend. Hopefully she’ll perk up. Willie is doing great. He’s decided that he wants to be on my shoulder all the time. He would sit there all day if I let him. And he won’t poop on me. Ain’t that sweet? ;-) No new words really, though he is trying to say something new but hasn’t perfected it enough yet. I could have sworn the other day he said, “Why?” He does tell himself to “Be good” now a lot.
Today I went and visited both Tootsies. I saw Grandma first. She was sitting up in the hall in her wheelchair. When she saw me she let out this loud noise, so I know she recognized me. I saw with her in the hall about 30 minutes, then rolled her down to the rehab room for therapy. She actually stood up twice holding on to the woman who was working with her. She was very shaky
and it only lasted a few seconds, but she did it. On the way home I visited Grandpa’s grave.
Ashlee had her first tennis game Sunday. They won four of the five matches. Michael’s team lost their first game. But, they’re very positive about winning all the rest. :-) Go Rangers! Go Dragons!
Katie’s been playing with Shaina everyday after school. She was so tired a couple nights ago that she fell asleep on the loveseat at 6:00, and slept through the night. She plays hard.
We’re getting closer to putting our house on the market. We found someone to paint it, and that should happen next week. After that, we’re good to go. I found one house in the Settlement that I may go look at this weekend. The kids are so excited.
Until next time.
