I haven’t updated in a while. I haven’t because I knew in this entry I would have to write about Grandpa dying. He passed away on May 31. I’ve decided not to write the details because it’s something I will always remember – each and every detail. I am going to do everything I can to keep him alive in my kid’s minds. He is loved and missed by all of us.
The summer has flown by. I can’t possibly remember everything we’ve done, but we’ve been busy. Katie was in two Girl Scout camps. She protested each time before they started that she didn’t want to go, but after day one she didn’t want to leave. The first was at Peckham Park, the second at Farm & Ranch.
Ashlee’s birthday went great. The girls had a good time at Palm Beach. She decided to eat at Joe’s Crab Shack. The waiters sang happy birthday to her and made her walk around the restaurant waving pompoms. She was completely embarrassed, of course.
We – or should I say I – got a bird a few weeks ago. Originally named Catnip, now known as Prozac due to her personality, she hasn’t quite bonded yet with anyone. She spent the last 10 days at Sandra’s house. We’re picking her up later today. I may have to change her name to Sybil now.
We just got back last night from a 10-day vacation to St. Louis and Chicago. I’m going to write more about that in the next entry, probably tomorrow. Right now I have too many things I need to do hanging over my head. I am in the middle of moving Michael into the loft and redoing the other two bedrooms. My house is turned upside down. I am refinishing my Grammy’s bedroom furniture (she is now in assisted living, same as Grandma Tootsie) for Ashlee’s room. I’ve finished the bed and it looks really good. She’s very excited.
Until next time.
