Donna's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

August 14, 2003

Today is Katie’s birthday. I cannot believe that my baby is 6 years old. I took cupcakes to her class at lunch. She was so excited. She was so cute walking them around the table asking if they wanted vanilla or chocolate. Christopher is in her class again this year. She is very protective over him, and vice versa. They make an adorable couple. :-)

Michael ended up going to the Texans game with us Saturday. Kevin went too, so it worked out well. We tailgated beforehand, but the weather was terrible. Not that it stopped anyone in this strange family. There’s nothing like watching adults trying to hold on to metal poles of a tarp that keeps blowing away during an electrical storm. I was safe in the truck with Kevin and Michael.

Before the game the kids and I went to visit Grandma Tootsie. She is doing so much better. There was a 50s party at 11:00. Too funny! I enjoyed it a little too much, I think. Maybe I need to get a room with Grandma?

The kids started school on Tuesday. The day went well for everybody. I stayed up at the school only until 1:30 this year. I worked in the first grade hall for a while, then the 4th grade hall. For homework I got to color in a huge cat holding a fishing pole. Don’t ask.

Ashlee seems to really like her new school. Derek Miller – the guy she’s had a crush on since elementary school – is going to her school now. She told me she saw him in the hall twice. Yesterday she came home and told me he got moved into her math class. The sad thing is, when I ask her if she’s going to talk to him, she says, “Why would he want to talk to ME?” Ash has very low self-esteem. I’m still trying to figure out what to do about it.

Well, happy birthday Katie!

Until next time.
