Donna's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

October 17, 2002

Michael had a karate mid-term Friday night. Master M.K. Lee was the special guest, which was a really big deal. We were taking Randy and Donna out for dinner after testing, which I knew would go a little late. Well, we didn’t get out of there until after 9. The kids did great considering their stomachs had to be growling, or “wraggling,” as Katie says. We went out for Mexican food afterwards.

On Saturday morning Michael had a workout with Master Lee. I’m glad I stayed and watched because it was really a neat workout. Michael was so pumped up afterwards. That afternoon we went to the Rice Festival. We walked around a while, got something to eat, then met up with John and Melissa. We stayed and watched Brian Black that evening. He was good. Katie just loves watching bands. She was dancing and clapping the whole time. She even danced with Steven. Very cute.

Richard, Donna, Randy and I went to the Texans game on Sunday. Richard got tickets to the Dr. Pepper suites, so we gave Randy and Donna our tickets. I sat with Donna the first half, then went to the suite for the second half. Great seats and good food! Now I’m spoiled. :-) I made the mistake of asking the waiter for a Diet Coke. Duh, we were in the Dr. Pepper booth. ;-) After the game we went and picked Katie up then went out with Donna and Randy to eat Mexican food. (Yes, we had Mexican food again.)

The kids were out of school on Monday. We went over and visited grandma and grandpa, then went to Jillian’s to bowl. Richard met us up there after he got off work. We then grabbed a bite to eat and walked around the mall. Ashlee got the sweatshirt she’d been talking about for months.

Grandpa Tootsie had been in the hospital a few days last week. They put a filter in his leg to help the blood clot. He was doing better until he fell Monday and tore his arm up. It looked awful. He did say that the swelling was gone in his legs and feet, which is good. On Wednesday, he fell again and broke his ankle. Sigh. I plan on going over to see him later today or tomorrow.

Tuesday was Katie’s field trip to the Big Blue Fun Farm. We had a great time! The weather was perfect! She milked a cow; caught a crawfish on a cane fishing pole; held a baby chicken; petted a big, ugly bullfrog; went on a hayride; and lots more. We got to go in the pumpkin patch and pick out a pumpkin too. And I got to check out Christopher, the boy she’s in love with.

Katie came home from school one day last week and said that she had a “bad day.” She was mad at Abby because she had played with Christopher more during recess – then had kissed him. They are fighting over him! Katie said she is in love with him, and so is Abby. She said that Abby will even try to cut in line if Christopher is the line leader. I cannot believe my baby is already fighting over boys. (Go, Katie!)

Richard is in Corpus Christi this week. He’ll be home late Friday night. We’ve been good and have eaten home all week. Katie has been requesting stroganoff for weeks now, so that’s what I made last night. Tonight we’ll probably go out to eat after gymnastics and karate.

Until next time.
