Donna's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

November 19, 2002

Laura’s baby is doing good and was supposed to come home yesterday. I’m going to call her tomorrow and get the latest details.

Ashlee had a dentist appointment at 10 a.m. Thursday. They put her spacers in. She is scheduled to have her braces put on next week, but I found out after they put the spacers in that this orthodontist is no longer on our plan. Can you believe that? I want to stay with them anyway, but Richard looked at me like I was crazy. Now I have to find another one on our plan quick. After the appointment we went to The Cheesecake Factory for lunch. Ashlee loved it. She has decided that we’re going to try every cheesecake variety on the menu. Good plan!

Friday night, Richard went to the Tom Petty concert with Randy. I stayed home and let Katie and Michael each have a friend over to spend the night. Ashlee had stayed home from school (she had a headache and her teeth were bothering her), so I made her go to bed early. David (not Nixon or Laird, a new one) and Michael fell asleep around 11 watching "Star Wars." Katie and Shaina stayed up until almost midnight watching "The Parent Trap." We ordered pizza for dinner. The kids had a good time.

We visited Grandma and Grandpa on Sunday. We took them a big bag full of cookies – Oreos, Nutter Butter, Chips Ahoy, Fig Newtons. Grandpa had already started in on them before we even left. :-) I think I’m going to take them fruit the next visit. We stayed and visited over two hours. Jackie came up there so we got to see her for a while too. We left and met Sandra and Fred, Kim and Keith and all their kids at Clay’s. We finished up the evening with a marathon of Trading Spaces. :-)

Richard and I went to the Texans game on Sunday. Ashlee got to babysit both Katie and Michael for the first time. They did great! We picked them up after the game and went to Chili’s for dinner. It’s funny -- when we leave them alone together for a while, they get along so well afterwards.

Michael missed school yesterday. He had a toothache. I took him to the dentist and they really couldn’t find anything. The dentist thinks the pressure from the adult tooth behind it is making it hurt. He told me to watch it and bring him back if it gets worse so he can pull it. He seemed a little better today.

What happened today? Donna called and asked if I wanted to go out for Mexican food for lunch. Duh. :-) Michael had a karate mid-term tonight that started at 5. Sigh. So they had to rush and do homework, grab a quick snack, then run out the door again. And then I broke my rule…

I won’t tell you where we ate dinner afterwards, but I ordered the California Club. Next week I’m putting my foot down! ;-)

Katie wants to take acting classes now. I honestly don't know how we can fit in another activity in the evenings. I told her we'll see. She would be great at it! Tomorrow is my parent-teacher conference with Katie's teacher. We'll see how much acting she's doing while at school. ;-)

Until next time.
