December 2, 2002

Katie had her Thanksgiving Feast on Friday. After school, Abby came over and played for a while. She is SO cute. It was the first time Richard had met her, and when she went to leave she ran and jumped on him and gave him a huge hug. He was surprised. :-) John and Melissa called and wanted us to go to Café Del Sol with them, so, since it was so close, we let Ashlee babysit Michael and Katie. We were home before 9, and she did really well.

Thanksgiving vacation just flew by! We stayed pretty busy.

On Tuesday, we ate out with Sandra and the kids. I won't say where, but I had the salad bar and a cup of gumbo.

We ate at home on Thanksgiving. We ended up being invited to three places, but I decided to go ahead and cook at the last minute. I bought a pre-cooked Cajun-fried turkey and eggplant dressing, and made the rest myself. Later that afternoon we went to the movies and saw “Eight Crazy Nights.” (I’ll give it 1 ˝ thumbs down.) On Friday, the kids and I went shopping for a while, then we all went Johnny Carino’s for dinner. (I’ll give it 1 ˝ thumbs down too.)

We did a walking tour of Katy on Saturday. The kids and I parked and walked around downtown Katy and checked out the stores. We grabbed a taco at a hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant. The food was definitely authentic. That evening, Richard and I went out with John and Melissa while Ashlee babysat Michael and Katie. This Friday, we ventured a little further away from home – and stayed out a little later. After dinner, we went to a club and watched some band play. We had told Ashlee we would be home around 10, and at straight-up 10 Richard’s cell phone started to ring. We left and got home around 11. She did great, other than worrying about why we were “late.”

We decorated the house on Sunday and watched the Texans game. Katie had a ball going through all the decorations. It was like she’d never seen some of it before. That evening Katie and I did our “family homework” that was due the next day. We had to decorate a gingerbread man. I tell ya, the girl has an imagination. I bet she is the only one in the class with a gingerbread man with long, rainbow hair. :-)

Tonight was Ashlee’s first basketball practice. It started at 7:30, and we didn’t get home until 9:15. Sandra and I did talk a little bit afterwards, but it still went a little too late for me.

The kids are real excited about an upcoming trip. In February, we’re going skiing at the Angel Fire Resort in New Mexico. We’re going with Sandra and Fred, Keith and Kim, and the kids. Ashlee overhead Sandra telling me to bring plenty of Tylenol because the high altitude can give you headaches and make you vomit. LOL You should have seen Ashlee's face. It was so funny.

Until next time.
