Quick catch up!

Katie had her first Daisy meeting. Abby, her friend from class, is in her troop. This made her very happy. At the parent meeting the girls made this cute pin to put on their vests. At their first official meeting, they made those messy peanut butter-covered pinecone bird feeders. That is definitely on my list of crafts I wish they wouldn’t make. I think she’s going to enjoy it. Today they’re meeting at the Katy Christian Ministries to donate a box of food together.

Ashlee started basketball. They practice on Monday nights, which ruins my “schedule nothing on Monday” idea. Sigh. At the Daisy parent meeting when we were deciding on a day to meet, someone said Friday. I’ve never answered up so quickly. (They’re meeting on Tuesdays.) Her first game was last Saturday. They won! Ashlee is really good. She’s very aggressive and not afraid to take the shot. We went straight to Katy Mills Mall after the game for Ashlee’s last performance of POG at Books A Million. I took the camcorder and filmed most of it. Richard had taped some of the basketball game, so the battery ran out before it was over, but I got most of it. Sarah and Olivia missed the last play because their grandpa died. They left for the funeral right after the basketball game. They did have a surprise in their front yard when they got home late Sunday night. Sandra and I have laughed every performance because of this tree Ashlee has to set up. The kids always have trouble with it (it actually feel on the last performance). Well, when the acting teacher asked if anyone wanted to take home parts of the set, I told Ashlee to get the tree for Sandra (Sandra had joked once about making one for Ashlee for Christmas). So we ended up taking this tree home. I put a big red bow on it and Ash and I propped it in their yard. Ashlee was so nervous when we did it. She definitely won’t be one of those kids wrapping houses!

Michael went to see the Houston Ballet’s Nutcracker a couple week’s ago with the 3rd grade, and Tuesday night they had their performance. He was a mouse. He looked so cute! Everyone did such a great job! Katie sat right up front and never took her eyes off the stage. I really need to look into acting classes for her. Ashlee starts up at a new acting school the first week of January. I hope this one is more “professional” for her. :-)

Yesterday, Ashlee went to see "A Christmas Carol." The teacher told them no jeans, which I was thankful for. She wore her black skirt and her new silky blue shirt. She looked very nice. I was going to go with her, but woke up with my throat swollen shut. Sandra was supposed to go too, but she was running a fever. And then, Ashlee came home from school running a fever. She’s home today.

I know I’m missing a lot, but those are the highlights. Today is Michael and Katie’s Christmas parties at school. So, I will be running back and forth from the third grade hall to the kindergarten hall, though I have told Michael that I will be spending more time at Katie’s. He said that was fine. Tonight is the Christmas party at karate. I am DONE Christmas shopping! Yeah! I’m only sweating it over one item that I ordered for my Dad that hasn’t come in. Keep your fingers crossed!

Until next time.
