Valentine’s Day…Is it all it’s cracked up to be?

Valentine’s Day has come and gone. The boys had their parties and brought home WAY too much candy, cookies, cakes, and valentines. They were nearly flying when I picked them up from school, still sucking on candy from earlier in the day. (Good grief!) I knew it was going to be a long night…..

The night before, Chris and I meticulously worked on his Valentines. He pretty much did them all on his own, including writing out their names, his name, folding them, and then sticking the little heart sticker on each one to close it. He was VERY proud of himself, especially when he got them all done.

Ben received the most adorable card ever!!! I guess it’s from a girl in his class named Mackenzie. I’m not sure what prompted it, but Ben did not show this to us until today. Maybe she saved it? It was a folded up a piece of red construction paper with the following:

Dear Ben,

You are superduper, fantastic, terrific, my favorite, awesome. I like you.

Love,

Mackenzie

He was nearly blushing when he pulled this out to show us. Andrew and I teased him a little bit. It was just so funny! How absolutely cute was that???

So, I guess the question is this? Is Valentine’s Day all it’s made out to be? I really, honestly, truly could care less about it just because it’s a holiday that brings in the big bucks for companies that benefit from this kind of stuff, such as Hallmark. The truth is Andrew and I didn’t have much money so we didn’t really bother, but I don’t care that much. I can’t justify spending $50 on flowers that don’t last more than a few days! I’d rather have some CDs or something, you know? Anyway, I know it’s fun for the kiddies and I guess that was the magic of it all.

That’s about all for now. I don’t have a whole lot to report right now. Until next time,

Heather, Ben, and Chris
