The Final Diagnosis
I received the report that we have been anxiously awaiting for the last two months. Dr. U sent his evaluation findings on Chris and we finally got them today. I haven’t yet read the whole thing, but I plan to when Andrew gets home. I want to do it with him. However, I did skip to the last page of this 8-page document to read his findings. His diagnosis for Chris is ADHD, Combined Impulsive-Hyperactive and Inattentive Type. He states that his condition is moderately severe and should be treated medically.
On that note, I would like to add that I started Chris on an Advocare supplement called “Spark” this week. Since day one, I have noticed a WONDERFUL change in him! His teacher commented in one of her many notes to me that Chris has had an exceptionally good week. WOW! Also, this behavior change has reflected on his behavior chart that he brings home each day. I have been pleasantly surprised to find that he has had only warnings or missed 5 minutes of recess only. This is a HUGE difference from before. He has become more focused, much more calm, pleasant, and much more agreeable. I have noticed a big difference in the way he responds to me when he has had his Spark, than when he does not take it. It’s amazing. Also, this is only costing me about $50/monthly. I don’t know what medications for this disorder cost, but I am much more willing to try the supplements for a while and see how they work. Andrew is SO surprised and he is VERY excited about this new development. I can’t believe how my stress level has decreased since I started Chris on Spark. It’s really amazing!! I am certainly keeping my fingers crossed for a while.
A Weather Change
Today the temperature climbed into the 70s and it was SUCH a nice break from all the nasty weather we had been having. So, I bought a roll of film and took the kids to the park. They played and I snapped random pictures. What fun! I can’t wait to get them back.
What to do about birthdays?
I know this is kind of a ways off, but their birthdays are coming up in May, and I think I might need to start planning out what I want to do. Their interests have changed so much since last year and I am just stumped as to what I can do on a tight budget!! Which is why I think I should start planning for this now. Any input would be appreciated.
So let’s see: What are they into now? Well, I guess I can start with their favorite shows: Transformers, Ed, Edd, & Eddy, (Chris wanted to change his name to Double D for a while there) Zoids, Spongebob Squarepants, and Courage the Cowardly Dog. I am sure there are some others in there, but I just can’t think of them right now. Their favorite movies at the moment have been Monsters Inc., Spiderman, Little Rascals (new one), Lilo & Stitch, and Ice Age. You know that these change daily, though! Ha ha! Out of all of these interests, I am thinking that a Spiderman theme for the party may be the most requested by Chris as well as Ben. I will have to keep that in mind.
An idea for redoing the bedroom
Totally off the subject again, Andrew and I were talking about redoing the boys’ room. We decided that it would be terribly fun to create Bilbo’s hobbit hole from “Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring” as their bedroom. We talked about it in depth and then got really excited about it. We thought of painting a mural on one wall of an antique type map of Middle Earth. It was just a great idea all around. I hope we have the time to do this because I think the boys would really enjoy it.
Well, that’s all for now. Until next time,
Heather, Ben, & Chris
