An Update After Forever....

Someone reminded me that I needed to pay attention to my CT diary on my MT TTM board. Oops. Sorry guys! So much has been going on, it’s hard to keep up.

Let’s see….Where to begin? The boys were excited about my trip to Israel in June, to be at my sister’s wedding, but were very disappointed that they could not accompany me. I apologized profusely but informed them that it would cost at least $3,000 I order for ALL of us to go. Their eyes were wide and they repeated “Three thousand dollars??? WHOA MOM!!!” (Actually, it would have been at least $4500 for all three of us to fly.)

When I got back, I had brought a really nice telescope back with me for the boys that belonged to my brother for so long. The kids were ecstatic. (How it made it on 3 flights, I have NO idea!) The upcoming weekend was the 4th and I had Friday off of work so I planned for that to be our “fun” day together since I knew Andrew would be at work. I went to Wal-Mart and picked up a bunch of new swimming toys including snorkel masks. Little did I know that those masks would CHANGE everything about the way the boys swim.

On Friday the 4th, I packed up all of our things and we drove to my in-laws motel that they manage and we headed straight for the pool, with a prior OK from my MIL of course. It as blazing hot, too, so it made for a perfect day to swim. After slathering ourselves with sunscreen, we all jumped in. The kids discovered how much they liked these masks and were quickly swimming all the way UNDER the water for longer lengths of time than they EVER had. I decided that it was time to actually teach them how to swim closer to the deep end since they seemed to be over their fear of putting their faces in the water. After working with the boys for about an hour or so, they were already swimming the width of the pool in 6-foot deep water!!! I was shocked. I kept a VERY close eye on them all evening but they were doing so fabulous! It was quite an accomplishment. That night, we made our way over to a lookout point in Branson that overlooks the WHOLE city, in order to see the fireworks. Right across the street is an Ice Cream Parlor that serves home made ice cream. Since it wasn’t dark yet, I took them there for cones. What a treat!!! All in all, the fireworks were great and we had such a view. It was a fun 4th.

When we arrived home, all 3 of us crashed hard. I had planned to take them back to the pool the next day since their cousins were due in from Texas. They were excited!

The next morning was about the same as Friday except we went to get the boys’ hair cut. They needed it badly. We finally arrived at the pool around 1:30 or so. My MIL asked us to stay the night since she had rooms open. That way Andrew didn’t have to go far after work since he had closed the store the night before and was very tired. The boys practiced more on their swimming and they got so much better. I was shocked, literally. I can officially say now, that the boys know how to swim in deep and shallow water. It was such an accomplishment for them and I am SO very proud. I can tell that they will both be very strong swimmers.

Later that evening, their cousins arrived from Texas and I offered to take the twins swimming with mine so that their parents could get settled in with the 2 other kids. We had a lot of fun and we all swam until about 10:30pm that evening. LOL We were exhausted!

The next day, July 6th, was our 8th wedding anniversary. We didn’t have a baby-sitter but we decided to eat lunch together at a local restaurant. We had a GREAT time, the 4 of us. I can’t believe that it has already been 8 years! And we are so much closer to 10. How strange.

Stay tuned for more on the boys. I promise I will update a little more frequently.

Until next time,

Heather, Ben, and Chris
