Heatherc's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

May 10, 2004

This weekend I had invited my neice and nephew, Gabriel and Autumn (yes, they are Jen D's kids) over to stay the night since my boys have missed them SO MUCH!!! They were dying to see them and made the point of telling me this everyday for the last 3 weeks. So on Friday after work I picked the twins up and brought them home with me NOT telling my boys that they were coming, as a surprise. When I pulled into my baby-sitter's driveway, I got out and left the twins in the car. The plan was that the boys would get in the car and "freak out" when they saw Autumn and Gabe. Well, the plan worked VERY well. The expressions on the boys' faces were priceless.

Much to our pleasure, it was a GORGEOUS weekend! Mid 80's and clear. So I bought water balloons, water guns, etc., for all of us to play with. On Saturday, had a HUGE water war, including our neighbors. It was such a blast.

Unfortunately, I was wearing the wrong shoes, got them all wet and slipped, jamming and breaking my big toe! I ended up in the ER on Saturday night just bawling from the pain. They did not know that there was a break but they gave me percocet for the pain because it was so unbearable. They showed me how to tape my toes together and I was sent on my way.

Fortunately, I work for Orthopedic Surgeons and on Monday when they found out what happened to me they immediately wanted to treat me. LOL What a perk! They did x-rays out the wazoo and realized that I did indeed have a fracture and that even though it was minor it looked very painful. That totally explained my pain, and the relentless swelling, etc.

All in all, I would NOT have traded my weekend for anything. Given a chance to do it all over, I would have done the same thing. We had such fun and I am sure it was an awesome memory for the kids.

Until next time,

Heather, Ben, and Chris
