Happy Birthday to Ben and Chris!!!

Ben is 8 today. Chris turned 7 on the 26th. Simply put, it has been a weekend full of surprises and birthday fun. My poor kids are worn out. You can only enjoy so much, right? Ha ha...

On Wednesday, they had shopping money to spend from Nanny & Papa (which I might have already mentioned. I can't remember). So, I took them to Game Stop to pick out something that THEY each wanted. Ben chose a "Pirates of the Caribbean" game for XBox and Chris chose "The Hobbit" game for his Gameboy. They were thrilled.

On Friday, their twin cousins (Autumn and Gabe) got to stay the night so that they could attend the party on Saturday and they had a blast. I cleaned like a mad woman all evening to prepare for the party the next afternoon.

On Saturday, it was a scorcher! I was glad that the basement was clean for all the kids to play in since they couldn't really go outside. We decorated for the birthday party and all the kids helped me blow up balloons, etc. Around 1:30pm the neighbor kids arrived bearing gifts. They played air hockey and XBox in the basement with the boys until the others arrived. All together we didn't have as many as I had invited, thank goodness. Only one child from each boys' class showed up, which was fine. We kept it all very simple but still, the boys had a blast. We had a SpongeBob cake, ice cream, lots of candy, and the boys received some cool gifts. The most popular one was a box of Magz, which are these small magnetic balls and connector sticks that you can build things with. I had never heard of them or seen them! (The boys loved them so much I went and picked up some more for them today!)

This morning when we got up, we took the boys to a breakfast buffet (Ben's choice) and then we told them we had a BIG surprise for them that we had to pick up afterward we were done eating. We detoured to our favorite CD/DVD store and picked up a few things for us and I suprised the kids with Spy Kids: Game Over. We headed to Wal-Mart where I had two brand new bikes on lay-a-way for them. They had NO idea! After shopping for a few minutes, I paid my bill and they brought out the bikes to us. The boys' eyes were enormous! They could not wait to get home to show them off. LOL

All in all, I'm so glad we could make this special for them. They have had such a wonderful start to their summer and an awesome birthday!

Until next time,

Heather, Ben, & Chris
