Okay, first of all I'm going to repost some of the stuff I posted about Kirk in my TT diary the past few weeks just to get you caught up. At the end, I'll add some new stuff.
*********

Kirk has been reading for the Read To Succeed 600 minute reading challenge. We are up to 574 minutes. Along with all the reading he does for school, we have begun reading CS Lewis's The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. I read it when I was younger and it is even better now that I am older. It is somewhat of a family tradition--my mom and her siblings read it, too. We read a chapter or two each night before bed. Kirk is really getting into it. He really needs to read every night, now. I decided to start reading to Aaron before bed, too. I think it is a tradition that will be very important for years to come.
Last week at the PTA meeting I found out about the Sock Hop at Kirk's school. An elementary school dance? Yes, who'd a thunk it? It is a fund raiser for Rainbow House an emergency shelter for abused children in Clayton County. Admission was $1 and a new pair of white socks--hence the "Sock Hop" theme. Kirk and I got there about 7 o'clock. It was the coolest dance I have even been to. I have to admit, I never attended a prom, so that has some bearing on it. The PE teacher had taught the students many, many dances from the electric slide, which I learned in school, to something called the Martian and a dance to Genie in a Bottle by Christina Augulara. You should have seen these kids dance. It was so funny. Kirk danced too, but not with me. He was too embarrassed. I did do the Hand Jive and the Hokey-Pokey. I watched Kirk dance and it was great! What he did was a mix between disco, break dancing, and the robot. I wish I'd had a video camera.
We are hoping to go visit my grand parents next month during the time Wes is in Nashville for the shoot. Melanie will be at school up there, so we can do a whole lot of visiting. I'm supposed to be an extra in the film and Wes may be giving a talk to some theater students and Vanderbilt University. That would be cool. If we do go, Kirk will take a week off of school and we'll make a vacation of it. It is nice to have something to look forward to.

Let's make a long story short. Kirk has been naughty at school. Not bratty naughty, but wiggly naughty. On a few occasions, he has been hitting naughty, too. After a teacher conference in which we discussed other circumstances into which we will not go here, we decided to talk to his doctor about ADD. His teachers and I filled out tons of paper work and his score was high. What is high? I do not know. But with great reluctance, his doctor decided to treat him with medicine. He is not or ratalin (sp?) but Concerta. It is different. Better? I don't know, but only time will tell if it works.
Kirk is starting soccer. His first practice is on Monday night. This will be his third year and we can't wait. He is pretty excited, too. His team color is royal blue. His number is 17--he picked it out. His first game will be on March 17 and if my CT diary is not up by then, you will be sure to hear about it--the game I mean.

Okay, for the new stuff. . .
Kirk's first soccer game was rained out. He took it pretty good, though. It meant he got to sleep in that day. He has another game tomorrow. So far the weather looks great! He's been doing really well this year. He seems to be taking it more seriously. He asked if his soccer jersey could be hung in the hall of fame. It will certainly be in MY hall of fame.
Kirk seems to have adjusted well to the Concerta. Most of the symptom I was concerned about have gone completely. That makes me happy.
We will be missing the next week of school. We are leaving to drive to Nashville Sunday after church. We'll be there until next Saturday at the latest. The kids are missing their daddy and he misses them, too. It'll be a great reunion.
I am sorry this entry seems so rushed, but I have a limited amount of time to clean and pack while my two babies are asleep. Thanks for stopping by and I promise, my next diary entry will be much more interesting.
Jenna
