Jenna's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

March 30, 2001

It has been nearly 2 weeks since I last wrote. Why? Don't laugh. I have spent ALL of my free time playing a video game--Paper Mario. In my defense in my entire life I have only played 2 games all the way through from start to finish. The first was The Legend of Zelda for SNES.
Well, we are officially in Spring Break. We are planning to go to Zoo Atlanta on Thursday. Myself, my mom, my grandmother, my little sister, and my three kids will all be going. Zoo Atlanta acquired 2 pandas last year and we have not been there to see them yet. We are looking forward to going. Wes and I used to go to the zoo every year and when Kirk was born we took him too. We have not gone since I was just a few months pregnant with Anne. That would have been in 1999.
I got a letter home from the school just a few days after we got home from vacation. It was a thick envelope. You know how scared you get when you get one of those. All I could think was "What has Kirk done now?" It was not as bad as I had thought. In fact it was not bad at all. It was a letter from the SCORE teacher. They want to test Kirk for the gifted program. I of course agreed. They test Kirk for an hour or so on Fridays. The tests get harder and longer each time. The first test had 31 questions and Kirk said that today's test was probably 6 pages long. I don't know how he feels about the testing. He doesn't seem to mind it. I think he just accepts it as a part of school.
Kirk's medication is still doing well. We are happy with it. Mrs. Olson is happy with it. Dr. Ahn is happy with it. Kirk says it makes him slow. I don't know what to do. I don't what him to feel bad or slow, but it does so much good. There are only two months left in school, so Dr. Ahn said that we'll give it until the end of the school year to see if that side effect goes away and if not, we may try something new next year. I guess we'll see.
Happy Spring Break!
Jenna
