Jenna's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

May 17, 2001

I have to confess, it has been very hard keeping up with my writing since I started working. I am so sorry. With my new job and all I have been very busy. I didn't think anything could make me busier than having three kids.
Work has been going well. The kids are enjoying themselves. They are able to be with me, play on some really fun equipment, and spend time with other kids. Kirk and I are able to do his homework together every night.
There are only 11 days left in the school year! Kirk is getting excited. I just can't believe it. Kirk is almost a first grader. He has got to stop growing so fast. June 1st is the last day of school for him. The Sunday after that I'm going to spend 6 days working at Royal Family Kid's Camp. Have you heard of it? If not look it up online. It is a great organization. They give a free week of camp for children in the custody of DFACS. Our church is sponsoring a camp, here in Clayton County, GA. This is our fourth year and my third as a councilor--I didn't get to go last year because I was nursing. After camp, we're just waiting to see when we move to LA.
Speaking of LA, guess what? DH is coming for a visit this weekend. The kids don't know. They won't until they wake up Saturday morning and find him there. Is that cool or what? The only problem I see is that fact that they'll have to let him go again on Sunday. They won't like that too much.
The athletic club I work at has a pool and it just opened two days ago. Yesterday, I took the kids to swim before church. We had so much fun. It has been quite a while since Kirk has really been able to play in a pool. He was a little nervous, but he got comfortable very quickly. He kept asking if he could go into the deep end. With his water wings on he thinks he is invincible. When he was smaller--and we were living in an apartment with a pool--he could go into the deep end with one of us with him. Now he thinks he can do it by himself.
We had a discussion about diving. He wants to dive. I said "no." He needs to learn to swim first. His response was "Why?" Wasn't that obvious? I guess not. He thinks he can surf without being able to swim, too. I've got to keep an eye on him.
I really want to write more, but I have got to go get ready for work. See you.
Jenna
