Introduction
I hope you all survived the holidays with your homes and your sanity intact. We came through it all OK, but our home is in major post-holiday chaos right now. We were busy and on the go for the few days leading up to Christmas and then not home for a few days, so we have quite a cleanup ahead of us. There are toys, boxes, wrapping supplies, odd bits of plastic toy packaging and mountains of laundry littering the floors of my house.
I've made a major dent in the debris this morning and am in the middle of a laundry marathon extravaganza. Oh the fun never ends!
We had a wonderful Christmas. The boys loved their gifts, loved seeing family and cousins that we don't see often enough, and just plain had a good time. I had a long talk with John and Christian about how to react to and accept gifts that for whatever reason they don’t like (already have one, doesn't fit, etc.). Both boys seemed to understand (finally!) and we avoided a few awkward moments while opening gifts. At one point though, Christian opened up a Pokemon Sorry game, said, "Thank you," turned to me and said, "See, I did not tell her that I already have this!" This would be an example of an awkward moment that we didn't quite avoid.
Noah really enjoyed Christmas this year. He loved opening gifts. Once he figured out what he was supposed to do, he attacked the paper with gusto! John got into the giving aspect of gifts this year. He was really excited to see how people would react to the gifts we gave. It was very sweet. Christian is really concerned with the details of Santa: How old is he? How does he get to everyone's house? What if you don't go to sleep on Christmas Eve, will he skip your house? You know, all the important stuff.
We were able to see lots of family that we don't get to see often enough, and that was great.
That's all the entry I have time for. I'm not really adequately describing how nice our Christmas was and how the boys liked it, but I have lots to do and very little time to do it. As I sit here, there is chaos around me. I have to get back to the laundry or we won't be able to go anywhere today. Noah is trying to lift my shirt to nurse. I hear John (the husband) hammering nails into the wall to hang up new pictures and I want to have a say in where they go.
Until next week,
Jenn and the Boys
