Another week flies by -- as I look to the skies to figure out where the
hell it went, another one is gaining. SOMEBODY STOP THE WORLD BECAUSE I
WANT TO GET OFF!
I guess you could say it has been a busy week. Dance class, school, dance
class, swimming, dance exams preparation, work, volunteer at school bingo
and festival preparation -- too much stuff, too little time.
Jade's first week back at school went very well. She enjoyed seeing friends
whom she had been separated from during the holidays and is now somewhat
back into the weekly routine. She is unhappy about all the homework she has
been bombarded with, however. It seems to never end. My question is: Why do
they get so much? Is it because the teacher is incapable of covering all
the material during school hours, or is it because the children are unable?
Or is it just because? I think a phone call is in order because for a grade
3 child, two hours of homework seems unreasonable. I will let you know what
I find out.
Friday night, I worked at Jade's school bingo and the Poker Pot of $74,500
was won by one person! Now I don't play bingo, but I have to say that for
$74,500 it is rather tempting. Well, actually not really, I don't have the
patience to sit there for so long and spend all that money in doing so.
Saturday was a flurry of swimming lessons and dance class. Jade really
enjoyed both and was excited that they started work on their festival
numbers for dance. We still have not found a character or music for her
solo number. We have thought about her being the sun, a fairy, the rain or
wind but so far that is it. We are trying to avoid an animal character if
we can, as they are always overdone. Wish us luck!
Saturday night, Shawn and I had picnic in the park with the snow. It was
beautiful. We had a fire, roasted onions, garlic (pork) sausage with hot
mustard and bread and beverages. Yum! It was very dark (you had to use
flashlights to see outside of the firelight) and the temperature was a
balmy (for a Winnipeg winter) -8 degrees. We had a great time enjoying each
other's company and the outdoors. Jade got to sleep over at Grandma's house
but will most definitely attend the next time we go. She would love it.
Sunday morning I went into work at 10:30 a.m. and Jade stayed over at
Grandma and Grandpa's till about 3:30 p.m. when I picked her up. When we
got home we took Murphy the dog (son and brother to us) out for a walk
because #1 -- he really needed the exercise and fresh air (so did we) and
#2 -- the weather too was incredible to pass up. When we got back from our
walk, Jade and our neighbor's little boy Liam tried to build a snowman but
instead took turns burying each other (and the dog) and rolling in the snow
(dog, too). Sunday night, we had a nice supper then started to feel a
little bit under the weather. I was feeling a little cruddy for a few days
but it hadn't panned out into anything serious, just nausea and sniffles.
So I went to bed early and felt fine the next day.
Monday Jade had dance class again, and while she was dancing I ran out and
did a few errands. Somehow, and I can't explain how, a large bag of M & M
peanuts ended up in my shopping cart. I knew that their presence meant
something important, so I had to buy them and find out what. And you know
what? I found their purpose. They (the M & M's) explained to me that they
were only to be eaten by someone suffering from PMS, no little kids, as
they had that magical ability to banish all feelings of anxiety, stress,
sadness, crabbiness and cramps. I obliged them, as it was my duty, and you
know what else? They were damned good!
That is all for now, but before I go I must say CONGRATULATIONS and BEST
WISHES to Suzi, June and their families on the arrival of two new baby
boys, Samuel James and Ryan, respectively. What a great way to welcome in a
new year!
Have a wonderful, fun-filled week!
Best regards to all,
Leanne
Greetings to all!
