December 14, 1999
Hi all! I am back again with more goods on the week that passed.
Since my last entry much has happened. Last week, from the 6th to the 10th,
I was on holidays only to stay home and work on my CSC assignment. Not very
fun but at least I was able to drive Jade to school and pick her up from
school every day. I love watching her face as she leaves the school,
talking away with her little friends, giggling, always smiling. She loves
her school. I have always wanted to be a stay at home mom. I am jealous of
the other moms who get to be there every day. I am grateful that I did stay
home for the first two years, but unfortunately being the only breadwinner
I must work. SIGH!
On Friday morning I had to take my mom to the hospital because she put her
back out while lifting my grandmother from her wheelchair. Then Friday
night I was back at the hospital for a scheduled MRI-angiogram and CAT scan
(I believe that is what they call them). The reason for having these is
because I have been experiencing blinding headaches, dizziness and horrible
clumsiness. I walked into more than a few walls. A little disturbing so the
doctor decided to rule out any serious problems and possibly just chalk it
up to stress.
Saturday I kept Jade back from her dance class because she wasn't feeling
all that well, she has Croup, only to let her attend a birthday party
(swimming) later in the afternoon. The doctor said this was okay as long as
she rested if she became winded or had a serious coughing fit. She was fine
and had a great time.
Sunday was her birthday and what a great day we had. The weather was great
and the children were pumped up and ready to go. The sleigh ride was lots
of fun. The children had a blast jumping off the end of the sleigh and
trying to get back on as the horse trotted along. The birthday girl was in
all her glory and received many wonderful presents. Three Beanie Baby
Buddies (Humphry the Camel, Tracker the Dog and Rover the Dog), three
original Beanie Babies (Eggbert, Peace the Bear and a Rooster), and sewing
machine, kit, patterns and material, three Barbies (Rose, Birthday and
Tattoo Barbie) four very cool and very grown up outfits, bath stuff from
the Body Shop and lots more. Not bad at all.
By the time all the birthday party festivities were over and we got back
home it was almost 6:30 p.m. We had some family members come over and then
it was time for bed. Jade was a little disappointed that she was unable to
play with all the cool stuff she got before she had to go to bed but was so
tired she soon forgot about pouting and fell asleep.
As well on Sunday were Jade's ballet auditions. I decided not to let her
attend. Number one reason was that I didn't believe she was ready and the
number two reason is that she was coughing so much and so hard that she
would never have been able to keep the strict posture and discipline
required to do ballet. I believe that I made a good decision.
Monday night Jade missed dance again. Her cough is so horrible and made
much worse by any type of physical activity but the doctor says not to
worry unless she gets any ear pain, high fever or is unable to catch her
breath. So far she has had only a sore throat from all the coughing.
That takes us to today.
This morning we woke up to snow. At least 4 centimeters of the wet, white
stuff. The temperature remains great at 0, with a wind coming in from the
south. Now it is starting to feel like Christmas, well at least to us
Winnipegers.
Jade wasn't very thrilled because she finally had to wear her ski-pants. I
agree with her that this sucks because the weather is warm enough to get
away with wind pants but too wet to go without ski-pants. She will be hot
and miserable all day and I will hear about it when I pick her up I am sure.
Tonight is our office Christmas party and that should be pretty fun. Jade
and Murphy (the dog, aka...my other child) will be spending the evening
with their two favorite people in the world, Grandma and Grandpa. Tomorrow
night I have school, Thursday night is Jade's Christmas concert (I hope she
doesn't lose her voice before then) and Friday I work at our school bingo.
Saturday and Sunday are dance, dance and more dance.
Now that the birthday is behind us, Jade is counting down the days to
Christmas. I am sure many of your children are doing the same.
I hope all of you have a wonderful week and weekend and until next time,
take care, stay well and have fun.
All the best from the Great White North (cheesy but I had to say it), Leanne
December 14, 1999 that means only 11 more days until Santa arrives!!!
