What a weekend! I didn't know so many exciting things could happen in only two days! Alex finally learned to ride his two-wheeler! He is an expert now! It took him all of five minutes. I was so proud. Peter told me that he was going to teach Alex how to ride without his training wheels. I thought alright. About five minutes later, Peter came in and said, "Alex is riding his bike!" I looked, and sure enough, my son was a pro! Of course, now all he wants to do is ride his bike! :0)
My mother arrived last night as well. That was a lot of fun for the kids! Talk about hyper! Her and John arrived around 10:40 p.m. and the kids were all standing in the window yelling, "Nana, Nana, Nana, Nana." like some sort of chant for a pro-hockey player! Ha ha! She got quite the welcome! Once they managed to force their way through their adoring fans, they handed out gifts for each of them! That went over way too well! Alex got a race car set that you can take apart and put back together. I'm not describing it very well. I think it's called Cool Tools or something. Anyway, he loved it! Victoria got an art set and Quinn got a Forget Me Not Bear. All the proceeds for the bear go to the Alzheimers Foundation of Niagara. :0)
Today we headed out to the rodeo! We all know how much I love the rodeo! Ha ha! This wasn't a professional rodeo but it was great none-the-less. We sat right in the front row! When we got there, ladies barrel racing was on and we were, literally, getting dirt thrown in our faces from the horses. We were about 3 feet from the animals! It was great! The bullriding, of course, is a big favourite! It really was amazing! The bull went storming by us! You could smell it, it was so close! The kids loved it! I think my favourite part was when they rounded up the steer and about 6 of them went running by right in front of us and 6 men on horseback were thundering behind! Now, that was cool! :0)
After the rodeo, we headed back home for a quick change and out to The Keg for dinner. I was absolutely amazed at how well-behaved my children were! We had a great time! They each got a placemat to colour so I thought it would be nice for my Mom to be able to take those home. We wrote their names on them, Alex wrote his own, and the date and folded them up as a souvenir! :0) I think this week I may take Alex out of school for one day so we can go to Writing on Stone Provincial Park and Devil's Coulee.
Writing On Stone Provincial Park is a site where there is a very large rock art collection etched on stone by the Native Americans. Devil's Coulee is one of the only nesting sites for dinosaurs discovered in North America. They actually have a dinosaur egg with an embryo inside that was discovered on the Milk River Ridge! It's in the museum at Devil's Coulee. Well worth a day of school if you ask me! :0) It should be a fun week!
I'll keep you posted on our adventures! Keep smiling!
Paris and Alex :0)
