Good happy Monday to everyone!
Life is good. In fact, life could not be better. Here I am, at work, typing this and I get to have my son with me. He’s sitting behind me at the other little desk, playing with his Star Wars toys. I love my job, I really do. I have the flexibility to work around my son’s schedule (for the most part), I can bring him in with me practically whenever I want, and my boss is the most understanding person in the whole world.
Well, as you can tell, Joey is back from his dad’s house. MY BABY IS HOME!!! My ex called me on Friday night (after I’ve been trying to get a hold of him all day!) and informs me that he’s going to be bringing Joey down to my house instead of meeting in Ft. Wayne, which is our normal routine. I didn’t really have a problem with that because it saves me a 5 hour round trip to Ft. Wayne and back. But, I had plans of going out to lunch with my dad and Joey and we were going to spend the afternoon around the city. Joey hasn’t seen my dad in over 3 months and I wanted to really get to spend some time with him. Well, I
couldn’t argue with the logic of saving $30 in gas money, $20-30 for lunch, plus whatever we’d spend around town, so I didn’t complain. I do have to say, though, it was really weird having my ex-husband, his new wife, me, and my fiancée in my apartment. We all got along just fine (I found out he quit his job again and no longer paying child support…again). My ex’s wife is a little weird. Very nice, but she always seems to be “on”. She just wouldn’t really leave Joey alone. I don’t know if she was trying to show
me that she can be a good mother figure to Joseph (which she is, I have no complaints),
but she acts more like his kindergarten teacher instead of a mother. Maybe it’s just her personality, I don’t know. But anyway, we had a nice visit with them and I saved lots of money, so I have no gripes.
I enroll Joey in school tonight, first grade. I can’t even believe it! It doesn’t seem like he should be this old already. He’ll be 7 on August 27. I just don’t know where the time goes. He’s really excited about getting to go to a new school. He assumed that he was going to have the same teacher as last year. He was kinda bummed when I told him that he’d have a new teacher. In fact, he’ll be in year round school, so this will be something new for both of us.
My mom now has her own apartment not too far from me. Brannen and I helped her move Friday and Saturday. I am so sore! I forgot how much fun moving can be! Also, this was the first time that I’ve really used my arm since I broke it and it’s a little sore a the moment, but not as bad as I thought it was going to be. My mom isn’t handling things very well right now and I am the only one out of all my sisters that is even talking to our dad. They are all mad at dad, which I don’t blame them, but that’s no reason to alienate him. The road goes both ways. I guess I’m just more like my dad then they are and I can understand his side better than they can.
The weather this past week or so in Indianapolis has just been to die for! It’s rained a bit, but when the high only reaches 71, I can’t complain. This is the nicest July weather I ever remember having. I hope it sticks around until August, because then we’ll be on the cool down for fall. I’m usually all for the heat and humidity, but I can’t say that I really mind the coolness of the morning air or sleeping with the windows open. My electric bill won’t be big at all this month.
Other than that, everything is going splendidly. I ended up getting AF so I know I’m not preggers yet, but we’re still trying (and having fun in the process). I’m ovulating now, so maybe it will be this month. I can always hope.
Well, that’s about it for now. Gotta get ready to take Joey to school and get him enrolled. I am now complete since my baby is back with me. I hope everyone has a fulfilling week and I’ll update again soon.
Take care,
Rachel and JOEY
