October 21, 2004—Officially Married
Good morning to all! Well, I am now a Carter instead of an Alcorn and that suits me just fine. My MIL and I left work together yesterday around 1 (we work in the same building and floor, different offices), drove home and got dressed up, then we all headed down to the courthouse. It was cool, cloudy, and a little breezy, but just a gorgeous day for a wedding. We got some great pics of the day. We signed in at the courthouse, got our license, had to go down to the basement to get the judge to perform the ceremony and then back up to get it certified. On our way to the courtroom, we passed a chain gang of inmates complete with orange jumpsuits and all chained together. It actually made for a pretty funny moment. We were married by a woman, which I thought was pretty cool. The ceremony itself only took a minute or two, but we exchanged our vows with love in our eyes and hope in our hearts. After we left, we headed out to Golden Corral for dinner, which was also the place of our first date. We gorged ourselves on the buffet and our server even brought us over a slice of chocolate/white cake which he decorated with extra floral icing in chocolate and white, which was very sweet. All in all, it was a perfect day for not a whole lot of planning. I’m so happy right now that my heart is just swollen with joy. Now, we’re in the middle of planning our road trip/honeymoon to Oregon. I can’t wait. Have a great day and I’ll update again soon. I’m calling Joey either tonight or tomorrow to see how he’s doing.
Care to all,
Rachel Carter
