Where does the time go?
It suddenly dawned on me last week that our schedule (the family) is
really Cory's schedule. Easter weekend, for example. On Saturday he
had martial arts from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and then soccer at 4:00
p.m. This last weekend, another soccer practice. Games start this
week. So, Monday and Wednesday he has Hap-ki-do from 6:00-7:00 p.m.
and Tuesday and Thursday soccer from 6:00-7/7:30 p.m. He'll be
testing for his yellow belt soon and when that happens he'll take a
Friday night class, 6:00-7:00 p.m. To add to that, when soccer ends
he wants to join the summer flag football association, with games
every Saturday and practices, we don't know yet. This is all fine and
dandy except I'll bear the brunt of the chauffeuring. DH switched
jobs and his new one requires business trips. Next week he's gone for
two days, the week after, six (including Mother's Day) and most of
June he'll be out of town or at trade shows. So, really, Cory's
schedule is MY schedule.
We're going to start Cory on an allowance. He'll get fifteen dollars
twice a month. He's going to open a bank account next week. We said
that he has to deposit ten dollars of each allowance in order to
learn how to save money. (I'm still trying to learn!!) So he has some
jobs that go with it -- tidying his room, emptying the garbages,
cleaning the playroom. It was his idea and at 7 and a half, I'm sure
he's more than ready.
Talk to you soon!! Shelley & Cory
