Hi guys...
Not too much to report this week, just getting ready for school to start. I picked up The School Clothes Layaway today, and have been busy getting all the new clothes washed and put away. Ariana has all of her school supplies and they are labeled and in the backpack, all ready to go. I am going in tomorrow to help with some classroom setup, and get my desk all organized. I also need to get the first month's book order forms all ready to go out. I am excited about the new year beginning, I have missed all my kids. :)
It is bedtime here at my house. We read our story, "Bartholomew and the Ooobleck" was this evening's choice. Teeth have been brushed, and tucking in has been accomplished. As has been her habit since she was a small child, Ariana is falling asleep while listening to a CD. I swear, this child has the most eclectic tastes for a 7 year old! She is allowed to select her own CD, although some restrictions apply... NO Ricky Martin at bedtime, thanks awfully. :) What is she listening to tonight?? The soundtrack to "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat". I LOVE that musical, we own both the soundtrack and the video. Apparently Ari likes it too, because she nosed around in my CDs till she found it. Last month, she was on a classical kick, she listened to "The Nutcracker", and the "Sleeping Beauty" ballet. Month before that, it was "Riders in the Sky", who do old-time cowboy music. I have always believed that it is very important to expose kids to all kinds of music, and it is apparently paying off. I love my kid. :))
My brother Josh is here visiting right now. he is in med school at Loma Linda University in California. We don't get to see him very often, but he is one of Ari's favorite people in the whole world. They often talk on the phone or send eachother sill little emails. She has been having a great time with him. Yesterday we spent the afternoon at Swan Lake, then he and one of his friends came over to have dinner and play games. My brother is 6 years younger than I, and after I got married, when he was still in High School, my house became The Place for he and his buddies to hang out. My door was always welcome to them, and they could root about in my cupboards and eat my food and play my Nintendo. My husband and I are also avid RPGers, we have both played Dungeons and Dragons for YEARS. We taught Josh and his buddies to play also, and thats when the fun began. We all became such close friends, and spent many many evenings playing games and having a great time. All I ever asked of them was that they never use drugs or alcohol (most especially not on my property, but preferably not at all) and that they treat my kids with respect and love. They always obeyed these rules, they were GREAT guys, all of them clean, upstanding youths. Their parents all liked the fact that when they were with us, they were safe and not out getting into trouble, and the boys really did want to be at our house! Then they grew up and went off to college. Each of them have now graduated college, and two of them are persuing graduate studies and have gotten married to lovely young ladies, and one of them has enlisted in officer's school for the Air Force. I am so proud of my boys, I am overjoyed at how well they have done and what wonderful starts they have made on their lives. But, DARN IT, I miss them!!! LOL! It was so nice to see two of them again for an evening. Ari loves all of them dearly, and it was sweet to see them hug her and engage her in conversations about things, it was obvious to see that they truely care about her too. Neither of them could believe how big she had gotten, both of them have known her since birth. They will be leaving after Labor Day... I will miss them.
Ok, I have managed to ramble on quite a bit again. LOL. Next time I post, it will be after school has started. I will give you an update on how things are going. If anyone cares...LOL... if anyone is reading... *knock-knock on computer screen*... Anyone in there?? :))
Hugs, and have a great week,
Tanya
