Suzi's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

January 10, 2001

Hey everyone! We're sort of in the midst of those "blah" January days of in-between weather. Some of the snow we got over the holidays has melted, leaving bare patches and cinders have left dirty snow piles along the roadside. Matthew is hoping the weather hangs on through the weekend up the mountain. His Scout den is to have their annual snow tubing trip on Sunday. In the past week he completed his requirements to move on from Wolf to Bear in Scouts.

Saturday I got my belated Christmas present. For quite a while I've been talking about getting a breakfast bar for the kitchen. Well, the one I'd fallen in love with was at Ward's so it was a ‘buy it now or never’ type of thing with their going out of business. It looks really nice and matches our kitchen table -- plus the boys are enjoying the bar stool that goes with it.

Last Sunday afternoon my parents and I took the boys to catch the animatronics dinosaur exhibit at the Carnegie Museum in downtown Pittsburgh. Matt asked all the "how" questions: "How do they make these robots move?", "How do they move them to the next city?"

Nick asked all the "why" and "where" questions: "Why did they die?","Why did T-Rex eat the other dinosaurs?", "Where's his stomach and his guts?" Nick was rather scared of the moving, noise-emitting robots, while Matt couldn't get enough of it. Both enjoyed the hands-on parts, the simulated fossil dig and stepping in a casting of a T-Rex track.

Sam just stared with big eyes and enjoyed the stroller ride through the whole place. On another floor of the museum, Matt really enjoyed the Native American story of how the constellations were formed or hung. It was presented in a small darkened, carpeted area with a planetarium-type projector.

Last night Mike attended the meeting for spring soccer coaches. It seems soccer and baseball season is just around the corner. I'm not quite sure how we'll juggle it with a new baby, Sam and the older two playing both... I guess we'll manage somehow!

Until next time!
