Suzi's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

January 11, 2000

Things are settling into a new routine here. Matthew's teacher is finally back from her sick leave. (Just in time for report cards to come out -- guess this one won't tell a whole lot!) They're actually doing work again. Matt's been doing word lists on the computer. He surprised me by printing out one the other day on his own from MS Publisher! I don't know how he did it, because my printer has an awful lot of selections you have to make.(I swear, kids are smarter these days. Seems like in first grade we were only expected to do basic 1+1 and ABC type stuff by the end of the year!)

Cub Scouts has a bunch of projects this month. They built bird feeders the other night. Later this month is the Pinewood Derby. Next Sunday, they're going to the local ski resort for an afternoon of snow-tubing. Matthew's also been hanging out with Mike a lot watching the assembly procedure on the engine he's rebuilding.

I've joined the "recliner club" ... Sam would rather sleep while being held in the recliner than being put in his bassinet at night. If I'm lucky, I get 40 minutes to an hour in bed at a stretch before I have to take him to the living room. Sunday has been my lifesaver though! Mike can at least watch Sam for a few hours and let me sleep. (I stayed in bed till 11:00 a.m. this Sunday!)

Later in the afternoon, my cousin and I turned two antique pillowcases into a Christening outfit for Samuel. She's going to be his Godmother. Matt was fascinated with the whole procedure and is now pestering us to teach him to use the sewing machine.... Do boys take 4-H?

Yesterday, Nicholas brought home the info for his recital for his tap and acrobatic classes. Time to start paying on costumes! Also, I guess any early vacation is out this year as the recital isn't 'til the end of June. Hope you're all staying healthy!
