Suzi's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

February 24, 2000

Well, let me start off by saying that McDonald's is still standing after the Cub Scout tour. For the second time in recent weeks I'm feeling old, though ... I worked for McD's in college. I figured they were as mechanized then and modern as it gets. Boy was I wrong! The inside of the restaurant looked like something Tim Allen created on Home Improvement! The way it looks, it won't be many years till one person can run the whole operation with a bunch of machines!

Matthew and Nicholas went to their grandparents' for part of the Presidents' day break. Matthew was supposed to stay through Monday but I surprised him. I was asked to help chaperone our church youth group's ski trip Monday. Matt wanted to snow tube all day, but when we got there, a lot of the sessions were already filled for the day. I wound up putting him in the ski class with some other adults and kids from our church. We did eventually do one tubing session with a few of our friends. I should add that Matt's biggest obstacle of the day was that his friend Becky is such a great athelete ... it must be hard to be showed up by a girl in first grade! He did really well though. I kept him on the learner's slope with the tow rope all day. He's not quite in control enough yet to take higher or on the chair lift.

It was the first one-on-one time I had with him since Sam's birth. All in all, it was a great day. He came home exhausted, and the next day in school he and his desk mate who also went could barely keep their heads up!
