I find myself being pulled back into things for PTO with Sam right there
for the ride. I try hard not to, but when I feel things may not happen
without my involvement ... well I'm sure you've all been in those
situations. They've just called an "emergency" meeting to either come up
with $2500 to fund t-shirts for the kids' track and field day or cancel
them. Problem being that the other 2 competing schools will have shirts.
The shirts also make it easier to identify which kids belong where in the
crowd. I have visions of having to tie dye 250 shirts with a few other moms
to remedy the matter.
My last major volunteer project is mostly wrapped up. My mom and I were
both on the committee for our church's new photo directory. All the
pictures have been taken, the copy is written and layouts are done. It's in
the mail to the printer and we can relax till the proof sheets come in.
I've enclosed our family portrait from it. Hopefully they'll switch my
intro photo to this new one -- but then again I'm rather fond of the one
that's been up until now.
Next week will be another test of my ability to do three things at once.
The high school musical will be in its production week. Normally I'm tied
up for the entire week. I told them that with Sam, I'd have to help a
little less, but I'll still need to be on site four days. I'm going to try
to keep him with me in a baby sling as much as possible. There are a few of
the students who make good baby sitters when necessary, and I figure a big
old theater has more than enough dark corners where I can hole up to
breastfeed discreetly.
Well, I better run ... I still have to plan April's Cub Scout meeting and
activity. Our topic was to be communications but I'm not sure I can come up
with a corresponding field trip. I may try to get the kids a tour of the
post office before snail mail becomes extinct!

Things have been pretty ordinary here again this week. Mike completed a
"new" engine for my vehicle, rebuilt the computer and got taxes underway.
Last week, the older boys went with FIL and his wife to see Toy Story on
Ice. Reports from them said the kids actually sat still through the whole
thing ... and of course being that the grandparents took them, they
returned with an abundance of souvenirs. Matthew spent February 28 and
March 1 trying to decide if the weather was "Lion or Lamb." Then, the
following day the school celebrated Dr. Seuss day, but he tells me he
wouldn't eat the Green Eggs and Ham. Sam celebrated by getting some new
clothes which say "Sam I am!" on them. Nick has been memorizing nursery
rhymes in class. "Hey liddle-diddle-diddle. The cow jumped over the moon.
The little dog laughed to see sports, and the plate ran away with the
spoon." (He eventually resolved the plate/dish thing in his mind ... but
pretty good for a kid who just turned 4!)
